Star Atlas Decentralized Autonomous Organization (Star Atlas DAO), a key player in the field of decentralized gaming development, has recently announced its first POLIS Improvement Proposal (PIP-1). The proposal aims to establish decentralized, permissionless decision-making, setting new standards for sustainable governance in the gaming industry.
Since its inception in 2021 and the launch of its web-accessible governance platform in 2022, Star Atlas DAO has been championing a community-driven ethos. It has been actively shaping decision-making for the future direction of Star Atlas metaverse, a pioneering force in web3 gaming.
PIP-1 brings forward three key articles defining the present and future operations of the Star Atlas DAO. The first article, known as the "Blockchain Supremacy Clause," defines Star Atlas DAO as a set of programs operating autonomously on the Solana blockchain.
The second article outlines the Star Atlas Constitution, which frames the governance parameters based on three guiding principles: maintaining high quality and safety, being community-owned and built, and striving for a resilient, sustainable ecosystem. Lastly, the third article ratifies the operations of the Star Atlas Foundation, which acts as a legal and business agent on behalf of Star Atlas DAO.
The process of deliberating on PIPs involves four distinct phases: Declaration, Deliberation, Decision, and Democratic Convergence. During these phases, the proposals are published, commented on, voted for, and finally, ratified. All these steps can be explored on the Star Atlas DAO Governance website, govern.staratlas.com.
Star Atlas DAO, operating via Solana-based smart contracts, manages the complex ecosystem of the Star Atlas metaverse. It includes game development, economic and treasury management, and other improvements both within and outside of the game itself. This inclusive and sustainable governance model empowers players to directly influence the evolution of the metaverse.
PIP serves as an invitation to all who have locked POLIS tokens in the POLIS Locker Electorate System, encouraging them to participate in the governance process. This move emphasizes the importance of self-sovereign gaming and community ownership to the Star Atlas ecosystem.
Built on the Solana blockchain, the Star Atlas metaverse offers player-owned in-game assets, setting the stage for guilds to become Decentralized Autonomous Corporations (DACs) and enhancing community ownership.
