In a nod to the ongoing Bitcoin halving event, Splinterlands the blockchain-based trading card game, has unveiled two exclusive promotional cards. These limited-time additions, called Baron Fyatt and Henchling Enforcer, come with the unique Halving ability, a feature currently present in only two other cards within the Splinterlands collection.
The team also recently announced significant updates to its ranked rewards system, marking the arrival of the Glint Store and new in-game currency. Departing from the previous randomized chests, players now have the option to select their rewards, ushering in a notable shift in gameplay dynamics. In this article, we will cover the latest updates to Splinterlands with a revamped ranked rewards system, new in-game currency, and the innovative Glint Store offering exciting rewards.
The Baron’s Bounty sale kicked off on April 16th, offering players a window of 15 days to acquire these special cards. Available for purchase using either Credits or Dark Energy Crystals, the Baron and Enforcer cards are priced at 31,250 and 3,250 per BCX respectively.
With Dark Energy Crystals currently offering a more economical option, players can leverage Vouchers to reduce costs by up to 50%. Additionally, there's a 4% chance of obtaining a gold foil card with each purchase and buying 25 cards at once guarantees at least one gold foil.
Moreover, each purchase of these promo cards earns points towards a lucky draw, featuring rewards such as discontinued card packs, land plots, and Runi NFTs, collectively valued at over $100,000. The top two hundred purchasers receive exclusive titles, while the top twenty secure additional copies of the new promo cards. Check out the official shop page for more info and to make purchases.
Despite recent adjustments to its league and battle reward system, Splinterlands has witnessed a decline in its player base. However, with over 2500 Barons purchased within the first few days of the sale, the halving event seems to have reignited interest among existing players.
While this event may not directly attract new players, it serves as a noteworthy acknowledgment of significant moments within the web3 space. For those seeking these exclusive cards without participating in the lucky draw, they're also available on player-to-player markets at reduced prices.
Splinterlands is a browser-based trading card game built on the Hive blockchain, offering play-to-earn features. Utilizing Dark Energy Crystals ($DEC) as the primary in-game currency and Splintershards ($SPS) as a governance token, Splinterlands blends deck-building mechanics with auto-battler gameplay.
Players construct combat lineups based on match rules, engaging in auto-battle until one team emerges victorious. Rewards include Glint currency, distributed at the end of every two-week season, which can be used to acquire cards and other in-game items. Additionally, the top 50 players in each season receive $DEC token payouts.
Furthermore, Splinterlands introduces land ownership mechanics, allowing players to farm resources like Grain, Research Points, and $SPS tokens. Future updates will expand land gameplay to include the creation of special in-game items.
Splinterlands continues to evolve, offering players a diverse and engaging gaming experience. With its latest updates, the game invites players to explore new opportunities for choice, rewards, and community interaction.
