Spekter Games secures $5 million in funding led by a16z speedrun to launch Spekter Agency, a roguelite action game on Telegram with integrated passive web3 rewards for mainstream players.
Spekter Games Inc., a game publisher focused on developing roguelite mobile games enhanced with passive web3 features, has announced the successful close of a $5 million pre-seed funding round. The round included participation from a16z speedrun, London Venture Partners, BRV Capital, Chamaeleon, Accelerator Ventures, Impact46, Versus Ventures, and Alumni Ventures. The funding arrives alongside the official launch of the company’s first title, Spekter Agency, which is now available on Telegram.
Spekter Games Raises $5 Million
Spekter Agency is a rogue-lite action game designed for instant, arcade-style gameplay. Inspired by games such as Vampire Survivors, the game targets a wide audience by focusing on accessible mechanics and replayable action. It operates within Telegram’s Mini Apps infrastructure, allowing players to launch and play the game instantly without additional downloads or complex onboarding processes. With Telegram’s built-in wallet functionality, the game integrates blockchain-based rewards in a passive and unobtrusive manner. This design minimizes the barriers traditionally associated with web3 gaming and opens the game to a broader user base.
The team at Spekter Games has emphasized that its approach to blockchain integration is focused on enhancing the overall experience without overshadowing the gameplay itself. CEO and founder Taehoon Kim (TK) stated that the company’s goal is to prioritize engaging game design while using web3 incentives as a background feature to support retention and virality. According to Kim, these systems are kept passive and non-intrusive to ensure that players are drawn to the game for its core mechanics rather than external rewards.

The funding round was led by several prominent venture capital firms, including a16z speedrun. Robin Guo, investment partner at a16z speedrun, expressed confidence in Spekter’s approach, noting that the team is well-positioned to deliver deeper gameplay experiences that resonate with more experienced players. The support from a range of investors reflects growing interest in hybrid gaming models that merge traditional design with modern technology.
The funds raised will be used to expand Spekter Agency to other platforms beyond Telegram, including traditional mobile marketplaces such as the App Store and Google Play. Additionally, the funding will support the development of a second title that is already in progress. Spekter Games plans to continue targeting chat-based super apps while maintaining accessibility through mobile platforms, aiming to reach a diverse and global audience.
Spekter Games Raises $5 Million
Spekter Games was founded by Taehoon Kim, an industry veteran with over 20 years of experience in game development and multiple successful exits. Prior to founding Spekter, Kim led nWay, the studio behind titles like Power Rangers: Legacy Wars and Battle for the Grid, which together accumulated more than 100 million downloads. After nWay’s acquisition by Animoca Brands, Kim was involved in leading web3 gaming initiatives in collaboration with companies such as Yuga Labs and Dapper Labs. His experience in both web2 and web3 environments positions Spekter Games to navigate and innovate within the evolving gaming landscape.
Spekter Games is focused on creating games that appeal to mainstream mobile players while incorporating web3 technology in a way that supports long-term engagement. By combining proven free-to-play mechanics with passive blockchain rewards, the company aims to deliver games that retain core gameplay quality while benefiting from new incentive structures.
The use of Telegram’s platform infrastructure is part of a broader strategy to leverage chat-based super apps for growth, accessibility, and user reach. For more information, visit spekter.games.
