Somnia Gaming Week runs from August 2 to 9 with a $10,000+ prize pool across eight web3 games. Players can compete in leaderboards to win USDC, NFTs, and in-game rewards.
Somnia has officially launched its first gaming week, featuring a prize pool of more than $10,000 and eight different games built on blockchain technology. The event began on August 2 and runs until August 9, allowing players to join competitive leaderboards and earn prizes in USDC, NFTs, and in-game loot. Somnia Gaming Week is open to players globally and does not require any token purchase or prior investment to participate. Games are accessible via browser, mobile, or Steam, making it easy for participants to get involved without the need for specialized hardware or software.

The event is hosted on the Somnia Network, a layer 1 blockchain designed specifically for entertainment and gaming. The network is EVM-compatible and known for its fast transaction speeds and low fees. Somnia has been gaining recognition in the web3 space, particularly after announcing a strategic partnership with Google Cloud during EthCC8 in Cannes. As part of this partnership, Google Cloud now serves as a validator for the network and provides infrastructure tools that support AI-driven features in games, such as smart NPCs and dynamic environments.
Developers building on Somnia can access tools like BigQuery for real-time analytics, Pub/Sub for blockchain data streaming, and AI agent frameworks including ADK and A2A. These tools are intended to help developers create more interactive and responsive gaming experiences. According to Somnia Founder Paul Thomas, the integration of Google Cloud’s infrastructure supports the company’s goal of developing an on-chain internet powered by agentic gameplay.

The event offers a variety of web3 games that range from pixel-based MMORPGs and roguelike RPGs to card games and naval battle royales. Each title introduces a different gameplay style and reward system, encouraging participants to explore multiple genres. Among the games already live are Hive Invasion, Maelstrom, Variance, Lucky Adventure Gambit, and Pool Legend. Players compete in leaderboard contests for prizes that are distributed based on final rankings. All leaderboards remain active through the duration of the event and will close at midnight UTC on August 9.
All eight games featured in Somnia Gaming Week follow a play-to-earn model, allowing participants to win real rewards without financial entry barriers. Leaderboard rankings determine prize allocations, which include USDC, NFTs, lootboxes, and exclusive in-game items. Players can participate in as many games as they wish and continue competing throughout the week. While each game has a dedicated community event day on the Somnia Discord at 1 pm UTC, all titles remain accessible for gameplay and leaderboard entries until the event concludes.
Somnia's New Event Offers $10K Rewards
Hive Invasion by Pixcape Games was the first to go live. It is a browser-based pixel MMORPG set in a dystopian world where players control Echo-9 units in battles against AI-driven enemies. The prize pool for this game is $1400, with rewards extending to the top 50 players.
Variance, developed by Realm Studios, launched its leaderboard challenge on August 3. It is an anime-style roguelike RPG in which players guide the character Ella through a fast-paced world filled with action and gacha-style mechanics. The total prize pool for Variance is $1850, which is allocated across the top 10 players along with additional lootboxes and golden tickets for the top 100 performers.
Maelstrom, a naval battle game by Uprising Labs, is available on Steam. Players control warships and battle both other players and sea creatures across stormy environments. Its leaderboard includes a $1850 prize pool, with rewards for the top 10 participants.
Lucky Adventure Gambit, known as LAG, is a dungeon crawler where players collect loot and fight monsters to earn Event Points. The top 100 players are eligible for rewards, with a total prize pool of $1105. Pool Legend, a blockchain-enabled 8-ball pool game, is also live and offers a $1000 prize pool. It is available on both the App Store and Google Play, and rewards are distributed to the top ten players.

Not all games began on the first day of the event. Several titles are scheduled to launch gradually throughout the week. Dark Table CCG is a card game set in a Lovecraft-inspired universe. It uses four-player mechanics and strategic card play to determine leaderboard rankings. The prize pool for this title is $1400, with rewards distributed to the top five players.
QRusader introduces an alternative gameplay experience through QR code-based level unlocking. Players scan codes and complete timed challenges to earn prizes, including USDC, NFTs, and in-game items. Its $1000 prize pool is split among daily and weekly winners through the QRusaders Discord server.
Masks of the Void is set to launch on Day 6 of the event. It is a roguelite action adventure RPG in which players use magical masks to battle waves of enemies. Developed by Uprising Labs, this game awards prizes based on both individual run scores and accumulated weekly scores. The total prize pool is $1400, with additional NFT rewards for top cumulative performers.
