Sony’s blockchain platform, Soneium, has officially launched Sleepagotchi Lite on the Line Mini app. Developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs (SBSL) in collaboration with the Startale Group, Soneium operates as an Ethereum Layer-2 solution designed to support scalable and interactive web3 experiences. The introduction of Sleepagotchi Lite to Line’s platform, which serves more than 200 million active users, represents a significant expansion for the game that previously gained traction on Telegram with over two million users.

Sleepagotchi Lite is now accessible directly within the Line Mini app or through a web browser, offering users the option to log in using either their Line or Telegram accounts. The game is fully integrated with the Soneium blockchain, allowing for a simplified user experience while still supporting on-chain interactions. Payments within the game can be made using USDC and ASTR tokens, providing users with flexible and accessible entry points to web3 technology.
According to Jun Watanabe, chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs, the partnership aligns with Soneium’s goal of enhancing creativity, immersion, and accessibility. He stated that the collaboration with Line and Sleepagotchi reflects a shared vision and enables the introduction of blockchain-based gameplay to a wider audience, with a focus on seamless onboarding and engagement.

Sleepagotchi Lite offers users a streamlined version of the full Sleepagotchi app, which is currently in development. Unlike the original sleep rewards model, the Lite version does not require sleep tracking. Instead, players can earn points throughout the day, which will carry over to the forthcoming 2.0 version of the application. The game features brief and engaging sessions built around battle card mechanics, collectible items, and community interaction, maintaining the core elements that made the original app popular while removing initial barriers to entry.
Anton Kraminkin, CEO of Sleepagotchi, emphasized the importance of sleep in overall health and highlighted Japan’s role in the game’s early success. He noted that the game’s design is heavily influenced by Japanese culture, with features such as kawaii art, gacha systems, and RPG elements. The launch on Line and Soneium aims to strengthen and expand this user base by offering a more accessible version of the game that still retains its distinctive style and character.

Soneium, which functions as Sony’s proprietary blockchain, has seen notable growth in its ecosystem. The platform currently supports over 100 consumer and gaming applications. While the term “apps” can vary in definition across different blockchain environments, Sony reports that these include a wide range of interactive and on--chain experiences that are active contributors to daily network usage.
Daily transaction volumes on Soneium range from one million to 1.5 million, with more than seven million wallet addresses currently in use. The blockchain also holds over $200 million in total value locked, indicating steady engagement and adoption within the web3 space. By integrating with widely used platforms such as Line, Soneium continues to focus on reducing the technical complexity traditionally associated with blockchain applications.

The launch of Sleepagotchi Lite on the Line Mini app marks a strategic move for both Soneium and Sleepagotchi in expanding the reach of web3 gaming. By removing the need for specialized blockchain knowledge and enabling gameplay through commonly used platforms, the collaboration aims to introduce a broader audience to on-chain experiences. With further developments expected in the upcoming full version of Sleepagotchi, the partnership reflects a broader trend toward more inclusive and accessible applications in the web3 ecosystem.
