Roblox Is Expanding Beyond Kids

Roblox is often associated with children, but recent research indicates the platform attracts a more diverse age group. According to Newzoo’s Global Gamer Study 2025, only 29% of Roblox players are between 10 and 15 years old. The remaining users include meaningful shares in their 20s, 30s, and even older, highlighting a clear trend of older players engaging with the platform.

The data does have some limitations. The study does not account for players under the age of 10, a significant segment of Roblox’s audience. Additionally, Roblox allows users to enter any age when creating an account, which can make it difficult to determine the exact demographics with full accuracy. Despite these caveats, the evidence suggests that Roblox is no longer just a platform for children.

Implications for Brands and Developers

The growing presence of older players on Roblox has notable implications for brands and game developers. Marketing strategies that previously focused solely on children may need to be adjusted to account for a broader audience. Roblox now represents a platform where campaigns and user-generated content can engage multiple generations, offering opportunities for more nuanced and inclusive approaches.

This “aging-up” of Roblox users also challenges skepticism about whether older players are active on the platform. Engagement from adult users is increasing, signaling that Roblox is evolving into a mainstream gaming platform rather than a niche product for young audiences.

Roblox Developer Earnings Soar

At the Roblox Developer Conference 2025, the company released updated earnings data covering the period from June 2024 to July 2025. The figures show that top developers on the platform are seeing considerable revenue growth.

The top 10 creators now earn an average of $38.5 million annually, more than double the amount reported five years ago. The top 100 developers make around $7 million per year, while the top 1,000 earn an average of $980,000 annually. Despite these high figures for leading creators, the median payout across all developers remains modest at $1,440 per year.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What age groups play Roblox besides children?

While a significant portion of players is between 10 and 15, Roblox also attracts users in their 20s, 30s, and older. The exact distribution may vary due to self-reported ages.

Is Roblox only popular among children?

No. Roblox is increasingly engaging older audiences, making it a platform that spans multiple generations.

How reliable is Roblox’s age data?

Roblox allows users to enter any age during signup, so demographic data can be imprecise. Studies like Newzoo’s provide broader trends but may not capture all younger users.

How should brands approach Roblox given these trends?

Brands should consider campaigns that appeal to both younger and older players. The platform’s diversity offers opportunities for user-generated content, interactive marketing, and experiences that engage a wider audience.

Does Roblox’s audience trend affect game development strategies?

Yes. Developers can design experiences that attract a broader age range, moving beyond content solely aimed at children and embracing features that appeal to teens and adults as well.
