Roblox introduces Moments, a short-video feed for gameplay clips, enhances AI creation tools, and raises developer cash-out rates. Learn about the updates, safety measures, and impact on creators.
Roblox has introduced Roblox Moments, a short-video feed that allows users to capture, edit, and share gameplay clips directly within the platform. Currently in beta, Moments supports videos between 15 and 30 seconds in length. The feature is designed to encourage quick and engaging content creation while keeping users within the Roblox ecosystem. Clips shared through Moments include deep linking, enabling viewers to navigate directly from the video to the original game. This functionality reduces the steps between discovery and gameplay, potentially increasing user engagement and retention.
Roblox Increases Creator Payouts
Alongside the Moments launch, Roblox has raised the Developer Exchange (DevEx) cash-out rate by 8.5 percent, effective September 5, 2025. Under the new rate, 100,000 Robux converts to approximately $380, or $0.0038 per Robux. This increase is significant for creators across the platform, particularly given that Roblox reported over $1 billion in creator earnings over the past 12 months. With 111.8 million average daily active users in Q2 2025, even small changes to the DevEx rate can have a meaningful effect on the broader creator economy.
Roblox has expanded its AI creation capabilities with a suite of new tools designed to streamline content development. These include real-time translation for voice chat, upgraded text-to-speech (TTS) and speech-to-text (STT) features, and assistant orchestration using the Model Context Protocol. The enhancements are intended to simplify interaction design and allow creators to build more immersive experiences. By integrating these tools directly into the platform, Roblox seeks to reduce the need for external solutions and maintain the full creation workflow within its ecosystem.

Roblox continues to prioritize safety and trust within Moments. Automated systems are used to identify NSFW content and potential intellectual property infringements. Creators whose content is flagged can submit appeals directly through Roblox Studio, ensuring that the moderation and review process remains accessible and transparent. These measures aim to protect both users and developers while maintaining a secure and reliable platform.
In addition to video and AI updates, Roblox is introducing 4D object generation to improve developer workflows. This system produces interactive assets with built-in collision and behavior properties, reducing the time needed to move from concept to playable tests. By simplifying asset creation, 4D object generation supports both experienced developers and newcomers, allowing them to build interactive experiences more efficiently within Roblox.

All of these updates reflect Roblox’s strategic goal of keeping creation, discovery, and monetization within the platform. By integrating short-form video, AI tools, and improved asset workflows, Roblox encourages creators and users to remain on the platform for both content production and consumption. This approach supports user retention, reduces acquisition costs, and strengthens the overall creator economy. The combination of Moments, enhanced AI capabilities, and higher DevEx rates demonstrates Roblox’s ongoing commitment to its creator community and platform growth.
