Roblox’s Growth and Player Trends

A new report from Newzoo, developed alongside major Roblox studio Gamefam, highlights Roblox’s position as a leading interactive platform in 2025. With nearly 112 million daily active users in Q2 2025 and payouts to creators reaching $316 million over the same period, Roblox remains a core destination for both players and developers. The platform’s continuous evolution places it in a unique space between gaming, creation tools, and social interaction.

Multi-Platform Reach and Player Engagement

Roblox’s accessibility continues to drive engagement across multiple devices. While 80 percent of users access Roblox on mobile, only about a quarter of players aged 10 to 65 rely exclusively on mobile gameplay. A large portion of the audience also plays across PC and console hardware, reflecting Roblox’s growing mainstream penetration.

Console engagement in particular has become more noticeable since the platform launched on PlayStation in late 2023. By Q2 2025, Roblox represented around three percent of total PlayStation playtime, equal to 374 million hours in a single quarter. Monetization rates remain steady, with a DAU-to-purchase conversion of approximately 1.25 percent and daily bookings per user averaging $0.14.

Audience Changes and Spending Power

Roblox remains especially popular among younger players, and those under 15 are still the platform’s largest demographic group. However, Newzoo reports that growth is increasingly coming from players aged 13 and older, with that segment posting a 54 percent rise in Q2 2025. Users under 13 grew by a slower 22 percent in the same period. Some analysts point out that part of the shift is simply existing players aging up rather than a surge in new older users. Even so, the trend suggests an audience with greater purchasing ability and a deeper interest in long-term engagement.

Genres Built Around Creativity and Social Play

Newzoo identifies “Roleplay & Avatar Sim” as the most dominant genre on Roblox, with 116 million daily visits between early 2021 and mid-2025. These experiences emphasize identity, community, and user-driven storytelling. Simulation projects follow closely with 110 million daily visits, while platformers, survival games, and action titles continue to attract major traffic.

Success on Roblox is driven less by graphical advancements and more by cultural relevance. Developers benefit from rapid updates, ongoing iteration, and an understanding of emerging online trends. The model reflects the behavior of platforms like TikTok and YouTube more than traditional game development, where discoverability and constant refresh cycles drive popularity.

How Traditional Studios are Responding

Established game developers are finding it challenging to adapt to Roblox’s pace and priorities. Content strategies built around long development cycles do not easily translate to a platform where thousands of new experiences launch every day. As a result, major studios increasingly partner with Roblox-native teams to experiment with interactive projects, audience research, and brand awareness campaigns.

For many companies, Roblox is becoming a testbed for next-generation experiences and a way to engage with younger, digitally native communities. Its importance in building future gaming audiences continues to rise, especially as web3 concepts and user-generated economies gain momentum.

A Platform Blending Gaming and Social Interaction

Roblox now holds a unique position within the entertainment industry, operating both as a game platform and a social ecosystem. With a growing creator economy, expanding distribution across devices, and increasing acceptance from established developers, Roblox remains one of the most influential hubs for future gaming innovations. As new business models emerge and the audience matures, its role within the broader digital landscape is likely to expand further.
