Realms of Alurya, the multiplayer action RPG once known as Synergy Land, has entered an indefinite development hiatus. The announcement came shortly after the conclusion of the game’s Hunt & Mint Play-to-Airdrop event on May 29, with the developers citing unexpected funding issues following a sudden collapse of their publishing deal with Treasure DAO.
With the announcement of the hiatus, no new content will be released for the foreseeable future. The development team is shifting focus to securing new financial backing and stabilizing the project’s future.
Realms of Alurya began its journey as Synergy Land, a multiplayer ARPG featuring real-time combat, elemental magic, and procedurally generated dungeons. It promised an ambitious blend of traditional gaming with web3 elements, including NFT-based characters, bosses, and gear, as well as land ownership and a player-run economy.
Realms of Alurya was called Synergy Land before Rebranding
After rebranding to Realms of Alurya, the game launched on the Epic Games Store in early 2025, delivering one of the most polished and accessible experiences among Web3 titles. It offered PvE dungeons, crafting systems, pet taming, and housing, all designed with blockchain-backed ownership in mind. Players didn’t need prior crypto knowledge to get started, but could opt into features like trading and NFT progression if they chose.
The game's trajectory changed abruptly in April 2025 after Treasure DAO, the project’s original publisher and blockchain partner, terminated their agreement without (allegedly) warning. This deal had included milestone-based funding and platform exclusivity. By that point, only half of the agreed funding had been delivered.
Realms of Alurya Hunt and Mint Event
Forced to act fast, the RoA team migrated the entire project to Ronin, the Ethereum sidechain behind Axie Infinity, in under a week. This major transition enabled the team to launch their long-planned Hunt & Mint event just in time. The event allowed players to fight a special limited-time boss, earn and upgrade a unique “Hunter’s Seal” NFT, and qualify for token and asset rewards tied to RoA’s planned $ACN token. Despite the technical feat of replatforming and releasing new content under extreme pressure, the event didn’t generate enough traction to secure further funding.
Following the event, Creative Director and Co-founder Oscar Soler (Madlman) addressed the community directly via Discord announcement:

With financial resources depleted, the developers made the decision to place the game in maintenance mode starting May 29. All live services will remain online for now, but future updates, events, and development plans are on hold until further notice. The team emphasized that this is a pause, not a shutdown. They are currently reviewing investor proposals and exploring ways to bring the game back into full production.
While Realms of Alurya is now offline and in maintenance mode, the announcement has still sent ripples through the Web3 gaming space. With the $ACN token launch and future NFT utility now on hold, some players are left wondering if this could eventually lead to a full shutdown, though the team has made no such confirmation.
The news comes amid a growing list of Web3 games hitting similar roadblocks or shutting down entirely. But unlike many, Realms of Alurya had already launched, built an active community, and delivered a working product. The difference now lies in whether the team can regroup. Despite the uncertainty, the developers remain hopeful. They’ve been transparent with the community and are actively exploring funding proposals to bring the project back online. For now, the realm of Alurya rests, but the fight to revive it is far from over.
