Next-gen metaverse gaming platform Readyverse has announced key partnerships as it develops its upcoming battle royale game Open. The game, set to be available on both PC and consoles, is building momentum through collaborations with high-profile partners, including the NFT community Neo Tokyo and renowned New Zealand-based game developer and film props company Wētā Workshop.
Readyverse Teams Up with Neo Tokyo and Wētā Workshop
One of the most significant partnerships involves Neo Tokyo, a popular NFT community. Through this collaboration, Neo Tokyo’s signature Citizens characters will be incorporated into Open. This integration allows Readyverse to expand its game's metaverse appeal by bringing established digital characters into the immersive world of Open.
The partnership with Neo Tokyo is not Readyverse’s first foray into collaborating with well-known IPs. Previously, Readyverse teamed up with other digital and pop culture brands such as Cool Cats, Reebok, and DeLorean, further positioning Open as a comprehensive metaverse gaming experience. Adding to this, Readyverse has the right to integrate elements from the Ready Player One IP, thanks to the involvement of Ernest Cline, the book’s author, as a co-founder of the platform.
The Readyverse
In a move to elevate the visual experience of Open, Readyverse has also partnered with Wētā Workshop, a New Zealand-based company renowned for its work in film props and game development (best known for making props, weapons, armour, costumes, miniatures and more for The Lord of the Rings motion picture trilogy).
The partnership with Wētā Workshop focuses on enhancing the conceptual visual design of the game. Richard Taylor, CEO of Wētā Workshop, emphasized the creative freedom this project has provided. "At Wētā Workshop, we’ve always tried to push the limits of storytelling and design, and our work with Open has given us the exceptional opportunity to do just this,” Taylor stated.
He also highlighted the opportunity to create a visually stunning and immersive world, different from any of the studio’s previous projects. Wētā Workshop’s involvement is expected to enhance the game's visual storytelling, making it stand out in the crowded battle royale genre.
The Readyverse Open Game Key Art
These collaborations underscore Readyverse’s commitment to building a compelling and visually rich metaverse experience for players. The integration of characters from NFT communities, along with a focus on strong visual storytelling through its partnership with Wētā Workshop, positions Open as a game that blends technology, gaming, and art in new and exciting ways.
As the game continues to develop, it will be interesting to see how these partnerships shape the final product, particularly in terms of narrative depth, visual appeal, and the integration of popular IPs. Readyverse is steadily positioning itself as a notable addition to the evolving web3 gaming space. For more updates and to learn more about Open, players can visit the official Readyverse website.
