Pudgy Party Launches on iOS and Android

Pudgy Party, the web3 mobile game from Pudgy Penguins and Mythical Games, is now available on iOS and Android. Players can race, customize penguins, and turn items into tradable NFTs.

Pudgy Penguins and Mythical Games have released their new mobile game, Pudgy Party, on August 29. Available on both iOS and Android, the game brings the widely recognized Pudgy Penguins characters into a multiplayer party game environment that incorporates web3 technology. The title allows players to participate in mini-games, collect digital items, and compete with friends while engaging with blockchain features in a seamless manner.

Developed in partnership with Mythical Games, the studio known for Blankos Block Party, NFL Rivals, and FIFA Rivals, Pudgy Party introduces the Pudgy Penguins IP to a global mobile audience. The game combines fast-paced party gameplay with a digital economy powered by web3, providing both casual and blockchain-focused players with accessible features.

Pudgy Party places players in a snowy, animated world where customizable penguin avatars compete in races, obstacle courses, and other mini-games. The gameplay emphasizes quick movement, reflexes, and adaptability, with match modes changing regularly to ensure variety. Designed for players of all ages, the visual style reflects the familiar Pudgy Penguins aesthetic, with bright, playful designs that align with the brand’s existing identity.

The game focuses on casual, fast-paced competition, and no two matches play out the same way. Players can dodge obstacles, navigate courses, and complete challenges while interacting with friends or other players globally. The mechanics are simple to learn but allow for repeated engagement through diverse mini-games and rotating modes.

Role of NFTs, NATs and LEs

Customization is a key element of Pudgy Party. Players can dress their penguins in outfits, accessories, and emotes. These items exist in two forms: NATs, which are non-tradable, and LEs, or limited edition items that can be traded. Through the use of a game item called a Talisman, NATs can be converted into LEs and minted as NFTs, which can then be upgraded, fused, or sold on Mythical’s in-game marketplace.

Blockchain functionality is powered by the Mythos Chain, built on Polkadot. Players are automatically onboarded into a wallet, allowing them to engage with NFTs and trading without needing prior web3 knowledge. John Linden, CEO of Mythical Games, explained that the blockchain layer operates in the background, enabling players to focus on gameplay while still accessing the benefits of digital ownership if they choose to do so.

Season One and Rewards on Offer

The first season of Pudgy Party, called Dopameme Rush, was launched alongside the game and features meme-inspired costumes such as "Tung Tung Sahur," "John Pork," and "Ballerina Cappucina." The season is structured around a monthly cycle, offering free and premium passes, global leaderboards, and limited-time rewards. Open tournaments allow players to compete for rankings and prizes in real time, providing an additional layer of engagement for competitive participants.

The seasonal structure is designed to maintain ongoing interest, encouraging players to return regularly for new events, challenges, and collectible items. The integration of viral humor and meme culture is intended to appeal to a broad online audience while maintaining a lighthearted game environment.

Blockchain and On-Chain Features

While web3 is central to the game’s backend, players can enjoy Pudgy Party without understanding blockchain technology. Items can be earned, upgraded, and combined through on-chain actions, but manual wallet connections or technical knowledge are not required. This approach allows the game to cater to both casual gamers and web3 users, offering a seamless experience that integrates blockchain elements without complicating gameplay. Linden described the system as providing assets that players can level up and modify, with the option to convert collectibles into other items, all while keeping the blockchain processes largely invisible to the user.

The launch of Pudgy Party coincides with Pudgy Penguins’ broader expansion beyond its NFT origins. The brand has a toy line available in major retail stores and has amassed billions of social media views. Luca Netz, CEO of Pudgy Penguins, stated that the company aims to reach tens of millions of players and position the game among the top apps on the App Store. He anticipates the game could also support streaming events, competitive tournaments, and live campaigns to further engage audiences.

The game is designed to evolve with its player base, offering a combination of fun, collection, and competition while integrating blockchain features for those who wish to engage with them.

Pudgy Party is free to download and available globally on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
