Pixels, winner of two titles at our GAM3 Awards 2024 "People's Choice" and "Best Causal", has announced the launch of Pixel Dungeon, a new game aimed at increasing the utility of its $PIXEL token. Developed in partnership with Crack and Stack, Pixel Dungeon integrates Pixels’ Reputation System, allowing for more comprehensive player engagement and reward mechanisms.
The game features fast-paced dungeon exploration where players mine $PIXEL, battle goblins, and compete against other players. The closed beta began on December 16th, with early access granted to players based on their reputation scores.
Pixels Introduces Pixel Dungeon to Expand $PIXEL Utility
Pixels, inspired by Stardew Valley and Runescape, is a blockchain-based farming MMO where players can farm, gather resources, and customize their virtual plots. The game is free to play on PC browsers and operates on the Ronin Network, blending the charm of classic farming games with the innovative capabilities of blockchain technology. Since its migration from Polygon to Ronin, Pixels has experienced significant growth (notably in SEA and the Philipines - similar to Axie Infinity).
Among winners of our GAM3 Awards 2024, Pixels' standout performance included two victories both “Best Casual” and “People’s Choice” awards. The recognition reflects the Ronin network’s substantial impact on the blockchain gaming landscape, further solidifying Ronin's reputation as a leader in the industry.
Additionally, Ronin’s “Best Ecosystem” win comes after a year of significant growth. The network’s surge in daily active users (DAUs), expanded NFT collections, and new partnerships have contributed to its success in the ever-evolving web3 gaming space. Ronin’s ecosystem now supports 15 playable titles, ranging from MMORPGs to puzzle games, attracting players worldwide.
Pixels 2x GAM3 Award Winner 2024
The introduction of Pixel Dungeon reflects Pixels’ strategy to grow its ecosystem and deepen the utility of the $PIXEL token. In November, the platform distributed 22 million $PIXEL as in-game rewards, with players reinvesting 11 million $PIXEL, valued at approximately $2 million USD.
The platform has seen a 64% increase in revenue since August, generating 6.7 million $PIXEL over the same period. With over 200,000 monthly active spenders, Pixels aims to reinforce its position as a major player in web3 gaming through Pixel Dungeon and other upcoming projects. Luke Barwikowski, founder and CEO of Pixels, emphasized the broader impact of the new game:
“Integrating web3 components into gameplay and launching successful tokens is a significant challenge for many studios, but that’s where Pixels excels. This partnership allows us to grow the Pixels user base while demonstrating our ability to scale across multiple games. The $PIXEL token remains central to our ecosystem, supporting player engagement and monetization.”
