In a significant move within the web3 gaming space, Sky Mavis, renowned for its flagship game Axie Infinity, which boasts an impressive $4B USD in lifetime trading volume, has disclosed a strategic partnership with Pixels. This collaboration paves the way for Pixels, the leading web3 game on the Polygon platform, to transition seamlessly to Ronin. This migration is driven by a collective objective to curtail gas fees, utilize the expertise and advisory guidance of the Sky Mavis ensemble, and harness the potential of the Mavis Hub. The latter is Ronin's specialized distribution platform dedicated to web3 gaming.

Ronin, crafted as an EVM blockchain with a distinctive focus on gaming applications, holds the unparalleled distinction of being the sole blockchain that has successfully scaled a single game to cater to millions of users daily. It's worth noting that Ronin has overseen over $4B in NFT transactions. In March 2023, Sky Mavis embarked on a venture to open Ronin's doors to premier gaming studios. This initiative aims to empower these studios to create iconic web3 games, drawing from Sky Mavis's vast reservoir of products and seasoned expertise. This confluence of ownership, community, and immersive gameplay is the cornerstone of Sky Mavis's vision for web3 gaming. The early adopters of this initiative comprise notable names in the gaming realm such as Directive Games, Tribes, Bali Games, Bowled.io, SkyVu, and Zillion Whales.

After Axie Infinity, Pixels is the second most popular Web3 game by real users. We are thrilled to welcome the team to Ronin and offer them our infrastructure and technology. This deal is also a big value add for our community and Pixel’s open world allows for NFT collections to have their own spaces. In the future, we envision a world where our community has the opportunity to build an Axie space, enabling more social interaction.

Aleksander Larsen, COO and Co-Founder of Sky Mavis

Pixels, conceptualized as a social browser game, transports players into a mesmerizing realm of farming and exploration. In this virtual universe, players are endowed with the freedom to harvest resources, hone their skills, and foster relationships, all while engaging in quests. By the metrics of Unique Active Wallets, Pixels dominates the web3 gaming sector on Polygon. It impressively logs over 1.5 million on-chain transactions every month, coupled with a robust user base of over 100,000 active wallets monthly and a daily active user count of 5,000.

Sky Mavis is the only company that has achieved scale in web3 gaming, so partnering with the team and migrating to Ronin, naturally made a lot of sense. Collaborating with a team that operates not on assumptions but hands-on, proven experience was a no-brainer. Migrating to Ronin and leveraging their wisdom simply felt like the next logical step in our journey.

Luke Barwikowski, Founder and CEO of Pixels

This isn't the first news to come out of major games transitioning to Ronin, and won't be the last. The network has been gradually increasing its library of games with titles coming over from other chains, or exclusive announcements for games building natively on Ronin. A prominent example of the latter was The Machines Arena, offering players a thrilling top-down hero shooter with action-packed gameplay. With only a couple of months till the GAM3 Awards, it will be interesting to see how Sky Mavis and Ronin manage to elevate these newly migrated games to higher pedestals within web3 gaming.
