Pixels Chapter 2.5 has introduced significant updates to the social crafting and farming game, launching on October 16, 2023. This update coincides with the official online version of Binance Blockchain Week, providing players with opportunities to earn Binance-themed prizes for free until November 4th. Additionally, players can acquire limited-edition Halloween costumes by participating in a mini-game until the end of October.

Pixels, inspired by Stardew Valley and Runescape, is a blockchain-based farming MMO where players can farm, gather resources, and customize their virtual plots. The game is free to play on PC browsers and operates on the Ronin Network, blending the charm of classic farming games with the innovative capabilities of blockchain technology.
Since its migration from Polygon to Ronin, Pixels has experienced significant growth (notably in SEA and the Philipines - similar to Axie Infinity). The Farm Land NFT sold out in just 21 seconds in January 2022. By November 2023, Pixels surpassed 100,000 daily active wallets (DAW) and continues to expand, boasting over 5 million players worldwide. Earlier this year, Pixels conducted its second Play-to-Airdop campaign, further increasing its popularity.

A key feature of the Halloween event, titled Denis the Dentist’s Haunted Harvest, allows players to earn exclusive rewards through a mini-game called “Maul a Skaul.” In this game, players can earn currency known as “teeth” by hitting various colored Skauls—large skeleton heads. The color of the Skaul affects the points earned, with red Skauls being ones to avoid. At the end of each round, players can collect their teeth and use them to purchase supplies necessary for crafting Ump-O-Lanterns.
By using the Ump-O-Thumper at the Smash-O-Lantern Station to smash these jack-o-lanterns, players have a chance to earn exclusive Halloween costumes. However, players should note that the Ump-O-Thumper has limited durability; after smashing two Ump-O-Lanterns, a new tool must be acquired at the cost of 13 $PIXEL tokens. This Halloween event concludes on October 31st, and players can access the Haunted Harvest map by exiting Terra Villa through the east and passing through the iron gates.

On October 24th, the Binance Blockchain Week began in Pixels, bringing the event to life in the Ronin-powered world. Players can access this event through a portal located in Terra Villa. Here, players will find Heidi, who will assign a quest that involves conversing with various NPCs to earn PixTix.
Each player can earn a maximum of three PixTix, which can be exchanged for one of three Binance-themed rewards at the Binance Truck located in Terra Villa. The available prizes include a Binance Trophy, a Binance Blanket, and a Binance Coinhead. Completing this quest also enters players into a raffle for the chance to win NFT Land. The deadline for completing the quest is November 4th.

The launch of Chapter 2.5 has introduced seven new quests aimed at improving user experience, along with updates to gameplay mechanics. Changes have been made to flower and crop planting, dead crop harvesting, and Grainbow Flour crafting, all intended to maintain a balanced blockchain gaming ecosystem.
New rules dictate that flowers can only be planted in Solariums with corresponding land types. For instance, Water Flowers can only be planted in Large Water House Solariums. In addition, Astracactus can now only be grown on NFT Space farms, while Watermint is restricted to NFT Water farms. Players can harvest up to nine dead crops simultaneously, and crafting Grainbow Flour and Sack of Flour is now performed in Windmills, yielding Business Skill XP.
New Harvesting Features
A subsequent update released on October 22, 2023, focused on economic balance and user experience, as highlighted in a Discord announcement. This update introduced skill-based task segmentation, limiting players to a total of four active tasks at any given time across different skill types. A revamped Reputation System now tracks both off-chain and on-chain activities, addressing issues like botting and coin inflation.
Players can improve their Reputation, which in turn reduces marketplace fees. In terms of consumables, players can now purchase the Berry Blast for 5,000 coins, which grants 100 energy points. However, energy consumables can no longer be traded or listed on the marketplace to prevent exploits. Additionally, the developers have replaced the full Winery in Terra Villa with a Basic Winery, capable of crafting individual quantities of Popberry Wine and Grainbow Grainshine.
All existing Wineries on NFT lands have been upgraded to T4 Vintage Wineries. Moreover, landowners are now considered VIPs after holding land for seven days, receiving a range of benefits including fee discounts and access to VIP tasks. Existing VIPs maintain their current expiration dates and enjoy a reduced 1% fee rate for marketplace transactions.
The launch of Pixels Chapter 2.5 marks a commitment to regular updates, and players can expect more enhancements in the coming weeks. For detailed information on the updates, players are encouraged to check the official changelog.
