PEAK and REMATCH Top Steam Sales

A detailed breakdown of Steam's top-selling games this week, including the rise of PEAK, the strong debut of REMATCH, and trends in co-op and multiplayer game performance.

Alinea Analytic has reported on the latest Steam sales data which highlights the growing appeal of cooperative and multiplayer experiences among players globally. Leading the weekly chart is PEAK, a cooperative mountain-climbing game that sold 1.1 million copies last week alone. Despite the absence of any significant marketing campaign, the game has now reached 1.8 million lifetime sales. Its peak concurrent player count exceeded 100,000, and activity data shows consistent spikes at 23:00 and 05:00 CET, especially in regions such as the United States, Russia, and Western Europe.

PEAK takes a humorous, light-hearted approach to gameplay, which appears to resonate strongly with players. Its success adds to the growing trend of independent games achieving breakout status by focusing on cooperative mechanics that are easy to pick up and enjoyable to share. The game’s publisher, Landfall, has also released Schedule I and has become known for supporting indie projects that appeal to niche yet engaged audiences. Interestingly, more than 60 percent of PEAK’s players have also played R.E.P.O., indicating a shared audience for accessible, co-op-oriented indie games.

REMATCH Sells Over 964,000 Copies

Following closely behind, REMATCH secured the second spot on Steam’s weekly chart, selling 671,000 copies. The game has now sold a total of 964,000 copies. Described as an arcade football title, REMATCH combines easy-to-learn mechanics with a high skill ceiling. This approach appeals to both casual players and those seeking a more competitive experience. Its gameplay has been compared to the structure of fighting games, where precise inputs and timing are essential for success.

Data shows strong crossover interest, with 92 percent of REMATCH players having previously played Rocket League and 82 percent also playing FC 25. This demonstrates how the game has effectively attracted fans of both arcade and traditional football titles. Despite some criticism that the game should have launched as a free-to-play title, its developers opted for a paid model.

This decision has proven effective so far, especially given the high development costs and ongoing content expectations tied to free-to-play models. In contrast to large studios with extensive live-service infrastructure, many developers lack the resources to sustain such ongoing support. The performance of REMATCH underscores that premium multiplayer titles can still thrive when well-executed and targeted appropriately.

Regional Hits and Classic Franchises Contribute Top Ten

In third place, the Chinese full-motion video dating game Revenge on Gold Diggers (情感反诈模拟器) sold 668,000 copies. The title has not yet been translated into English but has found strong support in China, where 73 percent of its player base is located. The game explores social themes that resonate with domestic audiences, reflecting the continued strength of region-specific content on Steam.

Dune Awakening reached the fourth position with 258,000 weekly sales, helping it surpass one million copies sold overall. Star Wars Battlefront 2, originally released in 2018, returned to the charts at number five after a 90 percent discount and the inclusion of all cosmetic content released to date. The discount significantly boosted its weekly sales to 249,000 copies.

R.E.P.O., another cooperative-focused title, maintained strong sales momentum by adding 233,000 copies during the week of June 16 to 23. With total sales now at 15 million and revenue reaching $119 million, the game continues to perform well. Week-on-week sales increased slightly, reinforcing the ongoing popularity of co-op horror games among a broad player base.

Continued High Rankings from New Releases

Stellar Blade remained in the rankings with an additional 211,000 copies sold. Steam sales for the title now stand at 1.3 million, with much of the revenue—over $61 million—driven by buyers in China. Another recent release, Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond, launched last week and reached 421,000 players. Nearly half of these players purchased the First Farer Box, showing strong initial engagement. The game’s top markets include China, the United States, and Japan. A majority of its players, around 71 percent, previously played the original Shadowverse game.

EA FC 25 sold 191,000 copies during the week, ranking ninth on the chart. EA’s recent discount strategy, which reduced the game’s price by 80 percent to $14, significantly increased sales. Despite being a console-first franchise, FC 25 has achieved notable success on Steam, generating over $112 million and reaching approximately three million users on the platform.

Broken Arrow, a real-time tactics title, closed out the top ten with 174,000 weekly sales. Including pre-launch and post-week sales, its total now stands at 259,000 copies. The game was listed on 1.5 million wishlists prior to launch, with significant interest coming from cost-sensitive regions like Russia. A price drop from $60 to $50 shortly before launch appears to have positively impacted sales figures.

Upcoming Games to Keep Your Eyes on

Looking ahead, wishlist data suggests that two Chinese-developed games may achieve notable success in the near future. Mecha Break, an online mech combat title, currently sits on 2.8 million wishlists, while the action RPG Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, often compared to Sekiro, has around 1.5 million wishlists. Both titles have drawn attention from global markets, not just China, which suggests strong potential for wide-reaching performance upon release.
