Paravox Launches Esports Tournament with $130k Prize Pool

Singapore-based game developer 81Ravens has announced the launch of its latest esports event, the PCI LATAM tournament, featuring the web3-based 3v3 shooter, Paravox. This competition will bring together top esports teams from Latin America, with an overall prize pool of $130,000. The event aims to build on the success of previous tournaments, including the Paravox Global Rapid Tournament (PGRT), which attracted significant attention with 23 participating teams and 500,000 viewers.

What is Paravox?

Paravox, the game at the heart of the tournament, is a fast-paced 3v3 arena shooter that utilizes web3 technology. It has been deployed on the Oasys L2 Homeverse blockchain, where players can trade in-game assets such as character skins. Currently available in open alpha, Paravox can be accessed through the Epic Games Store and Steam.

The game features a marketplace where skins can be purchased and traded using the OAS or PVX tokens, allowing for a player-driven economy. By leveraging web3 technology, Paravox aims to provide a decentralized gaming experience, where ownership of in-game items is verifiable and tradable. This model not only gives players more control over their digital assets but also adds an element of investment to the gameplay experience.

Tournament Structure and Timeline

The PCI LATAM tournament will commence with an Open Qualifier on November 17th, where participants from Japan, Southeast Asia (SEA), and Latin America (LATAM) will compete online. Following the qualifiers, the tournament will continue with online Playoffs on November 23rd and 24th. The two top-performing teams from the Open Qualifier will advance to compete against a selection of invited LATAM esports teams.

The tournament's climactic finale will take place in the Japan Global Tournament, scheduled for December 21st and 22nd in Tokyo, Japan. The final showdown will feature the best teams from the PCI LATAM tournament competing for the top prize, offering participants a chance to showcase their skills on a global stage.

Exclusive In-Game Skins and Prizes

In addition to the tournament itself, 81Ravens has announced the release of exclusive team collaboration skins for the event. These skins will be made available for certain invited teams, including well-known esports organizations such as LOUD, MIBR, w7m esports, and RED Canids Kalunga. This move aims to enhance the fan experience by allowing players to show support for their favorite teams through unique in-game cosmetics.

To ensure the highest level of competition, the player selection process for the Open Qualifier is based on several factors, including weapon preferences, win rates, and overall performance metrics. Invited teams will have access to this data to identify and recruit top players, giving professional organizations the opportunity to strengthen their rosters with emerging talent.

Paravox Roadmap for Late 2024

Building on a Strong Foundation

The PCI LATAM tournament follows the successful Paravox Global Rapid Tournament (PGRT), which demonstrated the growing popularity of Paravox in the esports community. The PGRT drew in 23 teams and attracted half a million viewers, showcasing the potential for Paravox to become a staple in the esports scene. With the upcoming PCI LATAM tournament, 81Ravens is looking to expand its reach in the LATAM market and further solidify Paravox's position in the global esports landscape.

The Future of Esports in the Web3 Era

By integrating blockchain technology, the Paravox tournament represents a shift toward web3-enabled gaming experiences, where players can not only engage in competitive gameplay but also trade digital assets with real-world value. This approach aligns with broader trends in the gaming industry, where blockchain-based games are gaining traction and reshaping how players interact with virtual worlds.

The PCI LATAM tournament marks another step forward in the development of web3 esports, offering a blend of traditional competitive gaming elements and the benefits of decentralized technology. As the tournament unfolds, it will be an important event to watch, particularly for those interested in the evolving landscape of esports and blockchain gaming.
