Parallel took home an impressive three awards during our prestigious GAM3 Awards, which took place on November 22nd. In addition, Colombian esports player Zeliaser, representing Yield Guild Games’ (YGG) esports team, secured the $20,000 grand prize in the Parallel Trading Card Game (TCG) tournament during the YGG Play Summit in Manila. This tournament featured a $100,000 prize pool and drew 16 of the world’s top players to compete live.

Zeliaser’s victory came after an intense final match against Hungarian competitor Bullbence. Though Bullbence defeated him in the upper bracket semifinals, forcing him into the losers bracket, Zeliaser fought back with two hard-earned victories to secure his place in the finals. He dominated the rematch against Bullbence with a decisive 2-0 win, showcasing his skill and resilience.

In a post-tournament statement, Zeliaser expressed gratitude to the Parallel community, noting the support and camaraderie he experienced throughout the event. “Everyone was so friendly. I just had so much fun meeting everyone,” he said.

Zeliaser’s achievement marks a significant milestone in his esports journey. As a long-time member of YGG Esports, led by team captain Disi and overseen by YGG Head of Esports Mike Ovecka, he has contributed to the team’s presence in high-stakes web3 gaming competitions. YGG Esports also fields teams in games like Axie Infinity and Sipher, further cementing its status as a key player in the web3 gaming ecosystem.

The invitational tournament marked a pivotal moment for Parallel, a game that blends science fiction with strategic TCG mechanics. Launched in 2023, Parallel has quickly become a favorite among both web2 and web3 players due to its flexible deck-building, diverse strategies, and immersive lore. Its growing popularity was evident as fans and professionals alike gathered in Manila for the event.

Parallel cofounder Kalos praised the tournament’s success, emphasizing the global appeal of the game and congratulating Zeliaser on his win. “Seeing so many of the world’s top TCG players coming together in the Philippines to compete in this tournament in front of an equally passionate audience was truly special,” Kalos said.

Path to Greater Success

Zeliaser’s victory in Manila could be a stepping stone to even larger achievements. He has set his sights on qualifying for the Parallel Prime Championship, a $500,000 tournament series culminating in the finals at the HyperX Arena in Las Vegas in March 2025. To secure his spot, Zeliaser aims to rank among the top eight players on the game’s leaderboard.

The Parallel tournament at the YGG Play Summit was part of a broader celebration of gaming and web3 innovation. Hosted in Manila, a hub for blockchain gaming, the summit included esports competitions, a game expo featuring 30 projects, and most importantly our very own GAM3 Awards.
