The past week on Steam has been packed with strong sales across both major franchises and indie titles. Dying Light: The Beast debuted to more than one million copies sold, Palworld crossed an impressive 25 million lifetime sales, and Hades II continued to build momentum in early access ahead of its full release. Data from Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics.

Palworld Crosses 25 Million Copies Sold

Palworld has surpassed 25 million copies sold across platforms, solidifying its position as one of the year’s biggest success stories. The announcement came alongside the reveal of Palworld: Palfarm, a farming simulation spinoff that draws inspiration from life-sim favorites such as Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley.

To support these milestones, analytics platform Alinea introduced new features allowing for direct comparisons between its own estimates and official publisher-released numbers. The update highlights a focus on transparency, providing clearer insights into how games perform over time.

Dying Light: The Beast Off to a Strong Start

Techland’s Dying Light: The Beast launched on September 18 and immediately topped the Steam charts. Estimates show the standalone expansion has already sold more than one million copies on Valve’s platform, and more than 1.5 million across all platforms combined. The expansion builds on the series’ core elements of parkour-driven exploration and first-person combat, which have helped retain a dedicated fanbase.

Data shows that more than 80 percent of The Beast’s early players had previously played the original Dying Light, while nearly 77 percent had played Dying Light 2. Elsewhere, Borderlands 4 ranked second on Steam last week with over 300,000 sales, while Silksong followed in third with more than 250,000 copies sold.

Indie Games Continue to Make an Impact

Indie titles also performed strongly during the same period, further demonstrating the role smaller studios play in the PC market. Co-op climbing game PEAK sold more than 150,000 copies last week, pushing its lifetime total above 12 million. Horror visual novel No, I’m Not Human debuted with over 200,000 sales, including a significant share from Russia, where the developer Trioskaz is based.

Meanwhile, Shape of Dreams, a co-op roguelite with MOBA-inspired mechanics, sold another 150,000 copies, raising its lifetime sales to nearly 400,000. The original Hades also enjoyed renewed interest. Supergiant Games celebrated the title’s fifth anniversary by discounting it by 75 percent and reintroducing it to Xbox Game Pass. As a result, the roguelite sold more than 150,000 copies in a single week and pushed its total Steam sales past 9 million.

Hades II Builds Toward Full Release

Supergiant Games is preparing to launch Hades II in full on September 25, but the sequel has already sold over 2 million copies in early access since May 2024. Revenue estimates put the game at more than $50 million ahead of its 1.0 release.

The studio has taken an active approach to development by incorporating player feedback through Discord and early-access updates. Three major content expansions have already been released, each sparking noticeable increases in daily active users.

With the full launch days away, analysts expect Hades II to break its current record of 104,000 concurrent players on Steam. Returning early adopters, fans waiting for the complete version, and visibility on storefronts are all expected to fuel a surge in player numbers.
