Oxalis Games has announced a strategic partnership with Open Loot, a web3 gaming platform that focuses on player ownership and blockchain-powered ecosystems. This collaboration is set to further enhance Moonfrost, the studio’s shared world farm-life simulation RPG, which has already gained industry recognition for its unique design and innovative approach.
Oxalis Partners with Open Loot to Enhance Moonfrost
Developed by Oxalis Games, Moonfrost has captured significant attention within the gaming industry, winning the trophy for “Best Art Direction” at our 2024 GAM3 Awards. The game is being developed with contributions from the lead developer of Stardew Valley Mobile, bringing expertise in farm-life simulation mechanics. Unlike traditional games in the genre, Moonfrost integrates elements of decentralization, player-driven economies, and ownership of in-game assets, all of which are enhanced by optional web3 technology.
Oxalis Games has also built a strong community around Moonfrost, achieving over 50,000 organic sign-ups without investing in marketing. The game was featured as the lead indie title at EGX-Comic Con London 2024 and remains one of the top 20 most wishlisted games on Epic Games. This success highlights the studio’s ability to attract and retain players through a community-driven approach.

Open Loot is a well-established web3 gaming platform that provides developers with tools to integrate blockchain features seamlessly. With a user base of 1.5 million registered players, Open Loot offers a marketplace that supports both fiat and cryptocurrency transactions, simplifying access to web3 elements. The platform has facilitated over $400 million in trading volume and generated more than $170 million in revenue. It has also launched successful web3 titles such as Big Time and World Shards.
Open Loot’s infrastructure includes built-in custody, KYC/AML compliance, and risk management features, ensuring a secure and accessible experience for both developers and players. Through this partnership, Oxalis Games will be able to integrate these features into Moonfrost, providing a streamlined and player-friendly approach to web3 gaming.

Oxalis Games has taken a unique approach to web3 integration, prioritizing transparency and player involvement. Instead of relying on influencers or paid promotions, the studio conducted a post-playtest mint for its genesis NFT, the FROST-Hunter License, rewarding only players who actively participated in the game’s development. This strategy has fostered a dedicated player base that contributes feedback and helps shape the game’s evolution.
The partnership with Open Loot is expected to further strengthen this community-driven model by providing additional tools and resources to support player ownership and engagement. By combining Oxalis Games’ vision for Moonfrost with Open Loot’s expertise in web3 infrastructure, the collaboration aims to create a gaming experience that appeals to both traditional and web3 players.
