In a significant development, Oh Baby! Games has unveiled its inaugural title, Oh Baby Kart, a cross-platform multiplayer kart racing game set to launch on December 14th, featuring iconic SpongeBob SquarePants IP. This unique game combines intricate skill-based gameplay with narratives seamlessly integrated into its diverse maps and modes. Departing from traditional gaming experiences, Oh Baby Kart adopts a live service model, providing players with a free-to-play experience. The closed beta phase for Windows and macOS users will begin on December 14, with mobile and console versions scheduled for a 2024 release. In collaboration with Paramount Global and Nickelodeon, Oh Baby Kart will feature characters from the SpongeBob SquarePants universe as playable racers, including SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, and Mr. Krabs. For a limited time, these characters will join a diverse cast of over 20 racers competing across 26 courses, including a special map set in Bikini Bottom.
The web3 gaming studio Oh Baby Games only recently announced its strategic partnership with Paramount, marking a pivotal step in the journey of their flagship web3 game, Oh Baby Kart. Paramount is renowned for distributing titles such as Star Trek and World War Z, making it clear that this collaboration could bring valuable experience and resources to gaming studios' initiatives. The web3 racing game is to be released on Steam after beta testing is completed, the team recently wrapped up its final round of alpha testing in anticipation of its move to beta, which gained positive feedback from players. Once the beta concludes, the game will be available on Steam, one of the leading PC gaming platforms with over 30 million concurrent users in 2023. Pasteur Tran, Founder and CEO of Oh Baby! Games, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "I'm thrilled for players to get their hands on Oh Baby Kart. Growing up, I loved classic kart racers like Mario Kart and Diddy Kong Racing. Oh Baby Kart is a long overdue update to the genre, offering a fully online experience for the next generation of kart racing fans. At Oh Baby! Games, we're building a gaming platform from the ground up, focusing on great games and the imaginative ways modern gamers inhabit those worlds. Beyond Oh Baby Kart, I can't wait to show everyone what else we've got coming down the pipeline."
Beyond Oh Baby Kart, the team is actively developing two additional titles, Oh Baby Party and Shogun Curse. The latter, described as a rogue-like card battler, is set to enter alpha testing later this year, contributing to the diversity of Oh Baby's expanding gaming portfolio. Founder Pasteur, aka “Pas” on Twitter/X, subtly teased rewards for early adopters in a recent tweet, underlining a long-term vision for collaborative success. To maintain excitement, the team has also introduced fresh maps, characters, and challenges. The Sticker Book feature is a unique addition, allowing players to earn stickers as badges of honor, documenting their achievements and contributions to the Oh Baby Kart journey.
The latest news regarding the use of IP from the SpongeBob SquarePants universe is just another notable milestone for Oh Baby! Games. After securing a $6 million seed round earlier this year, the game is just the beginning, with several other titles nearing completion. All upcoming titles will be hosted on the custom-built Oh Baby! Games launcher, providing access to the games and serving as a hub for the growing Oh Baby! Games community. The Windows and macOS versions of Oh Baby Kart will also be available on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Get ready for the next generation of kart racing as Oh Baby Kart speeds onto the gaming scene on December 14th, promising an enhanced online experience and setting the stage for more from Oh Baby! Games.
