Off The Grid’s Spooky Content Update

Off The Grid has rolled out its latest seasonal update, the Halloween Feardrop, live now across PlayStation 5, Xbox, PC, and supported cloud platforms. The update introduces the Trick, Treat or Die event, running from October 17 through November 3, and features new cosmetics, collectibles, and limited-time map changes. Following the major Kill The Feed update released just a week prior, Feardrop expands on the game’s evolving world with more rewards, events, and player-driven objectives.

The Trick, Treat or Die event serves as the centerpiece of the Halloween Feardrop update, giving players the chance to unlock over 100 new cosmetics and themed rewards. Ten hidden Candy Bags have been scattered across Teardrop Island, each one contributing to an in-game scavenger hunt.

Collecting all ten unlocks the Tooch Decayer achievement and grants the exclusive Hell Sack Mask, a collectible cosmetic only available during this event. In a rare move for live-service games, all Halloween rewards can be earned directly through gameplay.

There are no social contests or external raffles attached, giving players a fair shot at completing challenges and unlocking unique gear. The first player to collect all Candy Bags will receive a one-of-a-kind version of the Hell Sack Mask, marked with Serial Number #1.

Feardrop, Halloween Hexes, and More

The Feardrop update also introduces Halloween Hexes, a new form of limited-time loot that can be acquired through match drops or purchased with GUN on the game’s testnet. These Hexes are capped at two per day for purchases, but those found organically in matches are exempt from the restriction. Each Hex contains a selection of themed items, including rare masks, emotes, banners, avatars, and weapon skins.

Among the highlights are the single-use Psycho Mask, available in extremely limited quantities, and a set of Halloween-themed character outfits. These items are exclusive to the Halloween window and will not appear in future rotations, reinforcing their value for collectors and long-term players.

Seasonal Visual Overhaul

As part of the update, Teardrop Island takes on a darker tone, temporarily transforming into its Feardrop variant. The island’s familiar landscape is now shrouded in burning fog that sweeps across at specific intervals, accompanied by eerie ambient sound design and floating pumpkin blimps that loom over the skyline. The shift alters visibility, creating tense moments during firefights and exploration.

This visual overhaul adds an extra layer of atmosphere to matches and ties in with the broader Halloween theme, giving players a chance to experience the island in a completely different light without altering the core layout or structure of existing locations.

Earn the Sacrifice Mask

Off The Grid is also introducing new community-driven activities. The first of these involves voice chat participation - players who log five active hours in in-game voice channels will earn the Sacrifice Mask. Only the first 200 players to complete this milestone will receive the item, and idle or inactive hours will not count. Additional community challenges are expected throughout the remainder of October.

Alongside the event-specific tasks, ten new achievements have been added to the Career tab. These achievements reward players for exploration, collection, and event participation. Weekly challenges have also been reworked, now allowing five concurrent tasks instead of three, while XP rewards have been slightly reduced to maintain balance.

Respawn HUD Bug and Motion Drift

The Halloween Feardrop patch includes a variety of system and gameplay fixes introduced on October 17. Cyberlimbs now display correct stats and effects, dodging while using limbs functions as intended, and several visual glitches related to melee combat and animation timing have been resolved. The in-game marketplace fee is now capped at 500 GUN, and minor interface issues, including a respawn HUD bug and PS5 motion aiming drift, have been corrected.

Several locations across the island - including Little Kyiv, Marshlands, Midtown Harbour, Saltie, and Ocio - have also received structural fixes to address collision problems, invisible walls, and floating assets that previously interfered with gameplay.

Updated Battle Pass System

The Feardrop update builds upon Kill The Feed, which released just a week earlier. That patch introduced major changes to core gameplay, including a dodge mechanic, new cyberlimb functionality, an updated battle pass system, and a revamped weapon handling model. The update also improved traversal through refined jetpack movement, reduced fall damage, and smoother character animations.

Final Thoughts

Developed under the creative direction of filmmaker Neill Blomkamp, Off The Grid is a cyberpunk-style battle royale set on Teardrop Island. The game mixes traditional PvP combat with web3-integrated systems that allow players to trade and customize cyberware, weapons, and equipment through the GUNZ marketplace, including listings on OpenSea.

A full 60-hour story campaign is planned for release later this year, expanding the narrative behind the island’s dystopian setting. In the meantime, players can engage in ranked and unranked PvP modes to earn loot, climb leaderboards, and participate in ongoing seasonal events like Trick, Treat or Die.
