What is Uprising?

Uprising is a Layer 2 multichain native yield gaming blockchain secured by industry giants such as SEGA, Bandai Namco, Square Enix, and Ubisoft through Oasys' Layer 1 network. It offers a secure, gas-free environment for web3 gaming, utilizing the Arbitrum Orbit L2 stack to reduce gas fees and improve scalability.

Eric Vander Wal, co-founder and CEO of Uprising, commented on the recent news: "This development underscores Uprising’s and Oasys’ dedication to advancing blockchain gaming as our core business, while Arbitrum’s technological support ensures that the infrastructure will continue to evolve to meet growing demands.”

Details of Partnership

This partnership marks the first time that Arbitrum Orbit, a Layer 2 (L2) scaling solution, has been deployed specifically for gaming outside the Ethereum blockchain. Uprising L2, built on Oasys' Layer 1 infrastructure, is the first Layer 2 chain to utilize this technology. It offers a secure and gas-free environment for gaming, allowing users to earn yield from various blockchain networks, including Solana, Ethereum, Arbitrum, and Oasys, while maintaining liquidity for gameplay.

By integrating Arbitrum Orbit with Oasys, the gaming ecosystem can scale significantly. Oasys' Hub-Layer will support the creation and deployment of new Layer 2 solutions, called Verses, leveraging Arbitrum’s scaling solutions. This collaboration will build a bridge to the rapidly growing Arbitrum ecosystem and create opportunities for enhanced liquidity across blockchain networks.

Nina Rong, Head of Partnerships at the Arbitrum Foundation, added: “It is fantastic to see Oasys choose Orbit as the gaming stack of choice going forward, further entrenching Arbitrum as the leading stack for web3 gaming. The Oasys team has an amazing foothold in the Asia gaming sector which aligns with our strategic goals of deepening adoption of the Arbitrum technology in the regional home of gaming.”

Advancing Blockchain Gaming

Uprising, through Oasys, benefits from the support of major gaming companies such as SEGA, Bandai Namco, Ubisoft, and Square Enix, who serve as validators on the Oasys platform. These industry giants validate the network, further ensuring the security and reliability of Uprising’s blockchain-based gaming platform.

The recent decision by the Arbitrum DAO to extend the Orbit stack to any network enhances the flexibility of this collaboration. Crypto projects can now customize the Arbitrum codebase for their specific needs, expanding interoperability across different blockchain environments. This opens up new possibilities for gaming projects looking to optimize performance and user experience on decentralized platforms.

Ryo Manzoku, Director of Technology at Oasys, commented: “We are honored that the Aribtrum Foundation is collaborating with Oasys as part of their strategy to expand Arbitrum Orbit beyond Ethereum. By tapping into the vast potential of the Arbitrum ecosystem through Uprising Verse, we can grow and enhance the Oasys blockchain.”

Rollout and Future Developments

AltLayer, a Rollup-as-a-Service (RaaS) provider, will oversee the deployment of this new infrastructure. Their expertise will ensure seamless integration and optimal performance for all involved parties. Uprising L2’s upcoming launch later this year will focus on delivering a selection of mid-to-hardcore games, in line with its motto of "Real games for real people."

The collaboration with Arbitrum and Oasys allows Uprising to scale its blockchain infrastructure effectively, meeting the growing demands of the gaming community. double jump.tokyo also recently announced the creation of SG Verse, a Layer 2 (L2) blockchain built on the Oasys platform in collaboration with AltLayer. This new blockchain will support the release of the web3-based game Battle of Three Kingdoms.

The game is based on SEGA’s well-known intellectual property (IP), Sangokushi Taisen, a popular arcade game centered on strategy and card-based gameplay. With this initiative, double jump.tokyo aims to push the boundaries of blockchain gaming by leveraging new technology and enhancing gameplay features.
