Nintendo Switch Online Adds New Games

Nintendo Switch Online continues to expand its collection of retro games, offering members new opportunities to revisit classic titles from the Super NES, NES, and Game Boy libraries. In the latest update, three additional Super NES games have been added, giving players more options to experience nostalgic gameplay and challenges from the early 1990s.

Revisiting Mario & Wario

Mario & Wario, originally released in Japan for the Super Famicom in 1993, introduces a unique puzzle-solving experience. In the game, Wario accidentally places a bucket over Mario’s head, and players must guide Mario safely through obstacles to reach Luigi.

Using a forest fairy’s magic wand, players can create platforms, adjust Mario’s direction, and neutralize enemies. The game features 100 screens filled with a variety of challenges, all controlled with simple mouse-based inputs. This title remains notable for its inventive mechanics and puzzle design, providing a distinctive entry in the Super NES library.

Bubsy Returns in Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind

Also added to the library is BUBSY in: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind, an action platformer released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993. Players take control of Bubsy, a bobcat on a mission to recover his stolen yarn from a race of aliens known as the Woolies.

The game spans 16 stages, each comprising roughly 300 screens with varied enemies and interactive mechanics. Players navigate complex environments, collecting yarn balls while progressing through the stages. The title is recognized for its expansive level design and engaging platforming elements.

FATAL FURY SPECIAL Joins the Collection

The update also brings FATAL FURY SPECIAL to Nintendo Switch Online, a fighting game originally released for the Super NES in 1995. The game builds on FATAL FURY 2, featuring eight returning characters along with three new fighters and an additional boss, Wolfgang Krauser.

Classic characters from the original FATAL FURY are also included. The game retains the series’ signature two-line battle system, special moves, and finishers. A unique feature allows players to unlock a special appearance by Ryo Sakazaki from the ART OF FIGHTING series under specific conditions, adding an extra layer of interest for fans of retro fighting games.

Accessing Nintendo Switch Online Benefits

These new additions are part of Nintendo Switch Online’s ongoing efforts to provide members with access to a diverse range of classic gaming experiences. Members can explore titles across multiple consoles, including NES, Super NES, and Game Boy, with instant access through the service. The platform offers not only gameplay but also the opportunity to revisit gaming history and enjoy titles that defined earlier eras of Nintendo gaming.
