The Nintendo Switch 2 has officially launched as of today, June 5, marking the beginning of a new generation in Nintendo’s gaming lineup. Designed as a hybrid console that caters to both handheld and docked gameplay, the Switch 2 brings several improvements over its predecessor. The launch has generated widespread interest, with high demand from both long-time fans and new customers.
Despite pre-orders selling out quickly across most platforms, there are still opportunities to purchase the console on launch day. Retailers across the United States are offering restocks both in-store and online, giving consumers another chance to buy the device.

The Nintendo Switch 2 represents the next generation in the company’s line of hybrid gaming consoles. According to Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa, the new console builds on eight years of development and player feedback that began with the original Nintendo Switch. Furukawa described the Switch 2 as a continuation of Nintendo’s mission to offer flexible and accessible gaming, designed to work both at home and on the go.
The standard package for the Nintendo Switch 2 includes the console itself along with the updated Joy-Con 2 controllers, which come in both left and right variants. The box also includes the Joy-Con 2 Grip and Straps, the Nintendo Switch 2 Dock, an Ultra High-Speed HDMI cable, a dedicated AC Adapter, and a USB-C charging cable. These inclusions suggest that Nintendo intends for the system to remain versatile in both handheld and docked modes, continuing the dual-purpose design that defined its predecessor.
