Esports organization Ninjas in Pyjamas has entered into a new partnership with Socios, the fan engagement platform developed by blockchain company Chiliz. This collaboration aims to enhance the digital and in-person experiences available to NIP's fan base by integrating the Socios platform into the team’s existing Dojo fandom ecosystem.
Hicham Chahine, co-CEO of Ninjas in Pyjamas, emphasized the importance of adapting to the fast-paced nature of the esports industry while maintaining a strong connection with the fan community. He stated that the collaboration with Socios allows the organization to bring its supporters closer in a way that is both engaging and scalable.
Ninjas in Pyjamas Joins Forces with Chiliz
The agreement follows a similar arrangement between Socios and OG Esports and reflects a broader movement within the esports industry toward incorporating blockchain-based solutions. The integration will enable fans of Ninjas in Pyjamas to access an expanded set of rewards, including cryptocurrency incentives and real-world engagement opportunities.
Socios, a platform that enables fans to purchase tokens tied to sports and esports organizations, is already active in traditional sports. The platform has worked with clubs such as Juventus, Barcelona, Arsenal, Manchester City, and AC Milan. These partnerships allow fans to gain points through the use of club-specific tokens, which can then be redeemed for items such as match tickets, merchandise, and digital collectibles. Through this latest partnership, Socios brings its experience in fan interaction and blockchain engagement to the esports community.
By joining with Ninjas in Pyjamas, the company continues its expansion into a growing digital sector, using web3 infrastructure to support a new model of fan participation. Socios CEO Alexandre Dreyfus highlighted the role of web3 technology in shaping future fan experiences. He noted that the company's work with global sports clubs illustrates the potential of blockchain to transform engagement, and expressed optimism about extending this model to NIP’s audience.
Team Liquid Launches MyBlue on Sui Blockchain
The integration of blockchain platforms into esports fan ecosystems is becoming more common. In November 2024, Team Liquid announced a similar partnership by incorporating the Sui blockchain into its MyBlue fandom platform. These developments suggest that blockchain-based rewards and engagement strategies are increasingly being seen as valuable tools by esports organizations. The partnership between Ninjas in Pyjamas and Socios is part of this ongoing shift, reflecting a broader trend toward using web3 technologies to build deeper, more interactive relationships between teams and their fans.
