Nexus, a publicly owned South Korean game company, has acquired Z5 Games, developer of Immutable-based Pixel Heroes Adventure. Founder Kim Kang-soo joins Nexus to lead tokenomics.
Nexus, a publicly owned South Korean game company, announced the acquisition of blockchain game developer Z5 Games, the studio behind the Immutable-based role-playing game Pixel Heroes Adventure. The transaction was confirmed by industry reports and developer statements; financial terms were not disclosed.
Z5 Games was founded by Kim Kang-soo, who previously served as producer of the web2 mobile title Dragon Village. As part of the acquisition, Kim will join Nexus and is expected to oversee the design and execution of tokenomics for Nexus’s games, a role framed by the company as central to integrating blockchain-based economic systems across its portfolio.
Nexus Acquires Z5 Games
Pixel Heroes Adventure is presented by its developers as a pixel-art MMO that combines collectible mechanics with both PvE and PvP content. The title is deployed through Immutable-related infrastructure and is available through the game’s web portal and standard app stores; the project has previously been described in industry listings as using Immutable’s zkEVM and related chains and token systems. Z5’s experience with a playable blockchain RPG and associated token mechanics is cited by Nexus and observers as a rationale for the acquisition.
Nexus is preparing the release of its own web3 role-playing game, R.O.H.A.N.2, which the company states will run on the L1 Cross Protocol. Nexus operates the Cross Protocol in coordination with the Swiss Opengame Foundation, an organisation established to support an open blockchain gaming ecosystem. Nexus has promoted R.O.H.A.N.2 as a flagship title in its roadmap; the studio’s acquisition of Z5 is presented as complementary to the launch and ongoing development of Cross-based projects.
Nexus Acquires Z5 Games
The acquiring company frame the integration of Z5 Games as a move to strengthen Nexus’s development capacity in blockchain RPGs and to bring additional expertise in tokenomics into its producing structure. The appointment of an experienced producer to head tokenomics initiatives signals a focus on in-game economic design as Nexus advances R.O.H.A.N.2 and Cross Protocol initiatives.
The full commercial and strategic impact will depend on further disclosures regarding product roadmaps, release timelines and how the companies integrate teams and technology. Further information on R.O.H.A.N.2 and Nexus’s Cross Protocol is available via the projects’ public channels and official websites.
