AstroBot is back with a major update that brings even more charm, challenge, and PlayStation nostalgia. Revealed during the latest PlayStation State of Play, the update includes new planets, fresh challenge maps, fan-favorite character cameos, and even a custom DualSense controller inspired by Astro himself.
Developed by Team Asobi, AstroBot has evolved from a controller showcase into one of PlayStation’s most beloved and award-winning modern platformers. Known for its tight level design, creative platforming, and playful nods to PlayStation history, the game has earned multiple awards for innovation, accessibility, and overall charm. Built around the unique features of the DualSense controller, AstroBot delivers a tactile experience that continues to expand through regular content drops. This new update further cements the game’s place in PlayStation’s modern lineup, giving players more reasons to return to Astro’s colorful world of robots and gadgets.
AstroBot 5 New Challenge Levels
The trailer revealed five new challenge maps, set to arrive this June, pushing the total number of planets to over 90. These maps are designed to test players’ platforming precision, timing, and mastery of Astro’s mechanics while keeping the series’ lighthearted tone.
Also teased were special guest bots, with cameos from iconic PlayStation franchises — though specific characters weren't named. A quick glimpse of Kratos as a bot was spotted, hinting at more nostalgic appearances to come.

To top it off, a brand-new AstroBot-themed DualSense controller will launch later this year. The design is inspired by Astro’s colors and aesthetic, and will feature custom button details and touchpad visuals tailored for collectors and fans of the franchise. AstroBot continues to grow as one of PlayStation’s most iconic modern mascots, and this latest update gives players even more reason to jump back into the colorful universe of bots, gadgets, and platforming fun.
