Moonfrost is a multiplayer life-simulation RPG that blends classic cozy gameplay with optional Web3 features. Set in a vibrant isometric world, players step into the role of Frost Hunters, explorers drawn into a world transformed by the sudden appearance of a second moon and a mysterious new mineral known as FROST. Now that the official wiki/whitepaper has been unveiled, players finally have a clearer view of how the game’s economy functions, from in-game currencies to digital collectibles and a token-based system, made possible through Moonfrost’s partnership with Open Loot.
The award-winning Moonfrost is structured around a range of life-simulation mechanics that will feel familiar to fans of the genre. Players can explore the world, gather resources, build and decorate their homes, and interact with the environment while steadily developing their homestead and progressing through a mix of story-driven and open-ended gameplay.

Moonfrost’s core gameplay revolves around familiar life-sim activities such as farming, fishing, mining, crafting, and home decoration. Players can manage crop plots, harvest resources, and use workbenches and blueprints to craft tools, furniture, and refined items. Woodcutting and mining provide essential materials for construction, while fishing introduces variety with different catches based on time and location.
Moonfrost Cooking System
Cooking allows players to prepare meals with gameplay effects, and the building system offers freedom to customize homes with floors, walls, and decor. Progress is driven by a combination of story tasks and daily orders, which reward resources and in-game currency. Players can also complete their Collection Album by gathering unique items, adding an extra layer of achievement. A stamina system limits how much can be done each day, while a day-night cycle brings pacing and variation to exploration and activities, keeping the gameplay steady and engaging.
To take part in Moonfrost’s Web3 features, players must create an account on Open Loot, the official platform that powers the game’s wallet integration and marketplace. An Open Loot account is required to redeem or use CRYO, the temporary off-chain currency awarded during early access, and to manage digital collectibles such as Frost Workbenches, FROSTprints, and Luck Charms. It also enables players to buy, sell, or rent these assets directly through the Open Loot marketplace. While players without an Open Loot account can still enjoy all core gameplay features, they will not be able to access the token economy or use any of their earned CRYO.
Moonfrost’s native token, FROST, serves as the foundation of the game’s optional Web3 economy. It is not yet live during early access, and until the token launches, players are rewarded with CRYO as a placeholder. CRYO is earned through regular gameplay, but it will no longer be distributed once the FROST token goes live. Players who have accumulated CRYO will need an Open Loot account to redeem or utilize it, although exact details on conversion or utility will be announced later. FROST is not required to play Moonfrost, but it opens up new progression paths and interactions for those who choose to engage with the game’s player-owned systems.
Moonfrost Economy Overview
A core mechanic that ties into Moonfrost’s Web3 integration is the Luck system. Luck is a stat that determines a player’s chance of receiving token rewards or rare drops during everyday activities such as mining, fishing, or farming. Players gain Luck by equipping Frost Tools, which are crafted using a combination of FROSTprints and Frost Workbenches, both of which are digital collectibles. Luck can be further increased by socketing Luck Charms into these tools. The higher the Luck stat, the greater the reward potential, although it does not impact core gameplay progression for players who prefer to play without interacting with Web3 features.
Moonfrost’s blockchain layer revolves around several key collectible asset types, all of which are tradeable or usable through Open Loot.
Moonfrost Collectibles
Frost Workbenches are required to craft Frost Tools. Each workbench has a rarity level, and higher rarity benches allow players to craft higher-tier tools. Workbenches can be upgraded by combining duplicates with additional resources. These assets are tradable and rentable on the Open Loot marketplace, giving players the opportunity to own and monetize access to essential crafting stations.
Moonfrost Frost Workbenches Rarities
FROSTprints are blueprint collectibles tied to specific tool types and rarities. Players must own the correct FROSTprint to craft a given Frost Tool. FROSTprints can also be upgraded to higher rarities using two of the same type and required in-game materials. Like workbenches, FROSTprints are fully tradable and are central to the NFT crafting ecosystem.
Frost Tools are crafted using FROSTprints and Workbenches. These tools grant the player Luck and are the primary way to participate in token-earning gameplay. Important note, Frost Tools themselves are non-tradable and are account-bound. Once crafted, they can be equipped for gameplay but cannot be sold or transferred.
Luck Charms are socketable digital collectibles that boost the Luck stat when attached to a Frost Tool. Tools can hold up to three charms depending on their rarity. Charms are upgradable, tradable, and reusable. When a tool is unequipped or replaced, the attached charms are safely returned to the player’s inventory. The first set of Luck Charms was released through limited-time Mystery Boxes.
Moonfrost features a mix of off-chain in-game currencies and optional Web3 assets, allowing players to engage with the economy at their preferred level.
These currencies serve specific roles in the game’s progression systems and ensure a balanced loop for players not participating in Web3 mechanics.
Moonfrost is launching in phases. The first phase of early access is available to Gnome Key holders, a limited group of players granted access through a special collectible item.

Gnome Key holders will gain access to Moonfrost during Phase 1 of its early access launch and will receive an exclusive in-game cosmetic as part of their entry. Players without a Gnome Key will need to wait for later phases when broader access becomes available.
Moonfrost presents a well-balanced take on Web3 integration, offering a cozy life-sim experience with an optional player-owned economy. Its approach is reminiscent of Big Time, especially in how it handles crafting stations, premium currency, and asset trading through Open Loot. But Moonfrost introduces its own twist with the Luck system and a stamina-based gameplay loop, giving its economy more structure and pacing. Whether it becomes the next Pixels remains to be seen, but with a clear live-service model, transparent mechanics, and room for long-term progression, Moonfrost is positioned as one of the more promising Web3 titles built for both casual players and collectors.
