Mon Studios, the indie game development studio, has unveiled a substantial transformation for their web3 game Defimons, which has now rebranded as Spellborne. Spellborne (previously called Defimons) is an engaging MMORPG focused on adventures and monster capturing where players have the opportunity to catch various creatures, battle, craft items, quests, fish and much more to be revealed later on.

Along with the rebrand, the latest updates will introduce new starter characters, a revamped logo, and emphasize an open-world experience with a unique adventure for each player. Spellborne is slated for an early Q1 2024 release, promising a refreshed gaming experience. During the game's closed alpha test, the game maintained 5,000 monthly active users (MAU), 400 daily active users (DAU), and an average session length of 1.3 hours, with 10,000 total hours played in a single month, all achieved with minimal marketing spend.

Earlier this year, in a strategic move towards web2 marketing, Mon Studios launched a successful campaign on Reddit that garnered over one million views in a week and consistently held a presence on the platform's front page. The engagement successfully translated into a growing wishlist for Spellborne, reflecting potential growth in the market.

Mon Studios is a gaming studio focusing on building retro-inspired games for the casual/mid-core audience. They have secured 1.5m$ in funding in 2021.
