Mega Studio Closes Game Development Division

Barcelona-based Mega Studio has officially closed its game development division after nearly five years in operation. During this period, the studio created more than 35 mobile games and apps, employing up to 40 staff at its peak. The company will now focus entirely on its Mega Rewards growth business, providing marketing and scaling support to other game studios and rewarded platforms.

Founder and CEO Adam Jaffe shared the announcement on LinkedIn, describing the decision as “a sad day” for the company. Jaffe reflected on the studio’s history, noting that Mega Studio had been active across both first-party and third-party development projects, managing multiple games simultaneously and building a diverse portfolio of mobile titles.

A Shift Toward Marketing and Growth Operations

With the closure of the development arm, Mega Studio will continue with a reduced team of four employees. The company is pivoting from traditional agency work to a hands-on growth operator model, supporting rewarded platforms and other game developers in expanding their user base and improving monetization strategies.

“This is the end of one chapter and the beginning of another,” Jaffe stated. “We are not a traditional agency. We are a small group of experienced operators who roll up our sleeves and help businesses reach their next level.”

The final developer from the game division, Andrei Patrascu, has departed the company to pursue new opportunities, marking the full end of Mega Studio’s mobile development operations.

Looking Ahead for Mega Studio

The decision reflects a broader trend in the gaming industry where studios increasingly prioritize growth and marketing expertise over internal development. Mega Studio aims to leverage its experience in mobile gaming to provide targeted growth solutions, helping clients scale their platforms efficiently while maintaining a small, focused team.

The studio’s pivot to growth services signals a strategic realignment that could influence similar mid-sized studios seeking sustainable business models outside of direct game production.
