Our inaugural GAM3 Awards features over 30 members on its jury to help recognize the best "gam3s" in each of the 16 categories. The event takes place on December 15, and will be livestreamed across all our socials. It is time to get everyone familiar with each member of our jury. We got the opportunity to sit down with each of them to ask them a set questions to help you get to know them more personally, their favorite gaming moment growing up, what pushed them to make the jump into web3 gaming, and their outlook on the future of blockchain gaming.  

Venturre capitals have been at the center of web3 and crypto for a long time. Sometimes their mere existence is frowned upon by retail because of various reasons. However, there are ones that you have to pay attention to as they dissect the market to find the most promising projects, and especially games, to support and provide them the funding necessary to realize their vision.  Sitting near the top of that list are BITKRAFT Ventures, an early-stage investment platform for gaming, esports, and interactive media with Jamie Wallace leading their research and investment team.

Jamie, a member of our GAM3 Awards jury, is an avid shooter fan and was fascinated by what blockchain technology can do to push gaming forward. After spending countless hours on Minecraft and Runescape, anyone who discovers NFTs instantly recognize their ability to drive digital scarcity alongside digital asset ownership. He gave us his outlook on the market and where he sees BITKRAFT positioning itself within the market overall, and gaming sector specifically, in the near future as well.

What is your proudest gaming moment?

Getting first prestige in MW3 in the first 24 hours of the game launching (played for 17 hours straight) 

What pushed you to transition into work in web3 and choose gaming as your sector of choice?

I have always been interested in games having spent a significant portion of my early teens in worlds such as Minecraft and Runescape. I was pushed into Web3 when I discovered NFTs and the ability to enforce scarcity digitally.  I chose to focus on the intersection of gaming/entertainment and Web 3 as I felt it was the most mass-market application of Web3 and would form the foundation for a new wave of digital economies

What excites you the most about the current state of web3 gaming?

The blue ocean that game developers have to experiment with new monetization models, gameplay mechanics as well being able to verifiably enforce core economic primitives digitally, opening up the possibilities for a new generation of in-game economies.

Where do you see Bitkraft’s role in the future of web3 gaming?

BITKRAFT’s mission is to become the leading global investment platform for founders in the gaming and entertainment space. We want to accomplish that by backing and supporting the best and most innovative founders in Web3 gaming as well as being thought leaders in the space through research and insights pieces. 

If you could name one major milestone yet to happen to push web3 gaming adoption forward, what would it be?

The launch of a game that is able to not only appeal to the core Web3 demographic but also towards the general gaming population who have been traditionally skeptical of NFTs.
