MapleStory Universe Bans 20k Accounts

MapleStory Universe bans 20,000 accounts for macro use, introduces enhanced security measures, and reports stable user activity and trading with its Credit Level System.

MapleStory Universe has carried out another large-scale clean-up of its ecosystem following its launch month. Between 21st and 25th August 2025, the platform banned 20,000 accounts in MapleStory N, the PC version of the game, due to the use of macros. Macros are small programs that automate repetitive in-game actions, allowing players to quickly farm rewards without following normal gameplay mechanics.

This wave of bans follows the platform’s initial enforcement action, which removed around 60,000 accounts. The first wave targeted players attempting to hack the game and create situations that are not possible through regular play, whereas the latest bans specifically address automated farming and macro usage.

Credit Level System Supports Fair Play

MapleStory Universe highlighted that combining the account bans with its new Credit Level System has helped create a gaming environment that rewards honest gameplay. Developers noted that it has become increasingly difficult for macro users and farming operations to return in the same manner. The Credit Level System is intended to provide fair recognition and rewards for players who engage with the game through standard methods.

Despite these measures, the platform acknowledges that security challenges remain. Hackers and exploiters continue to seek ways to bypass anti-cheat systems. To address this, MapleStory Universe plans additional measures, including high-intensity lie-detection systems, increased patrols, and new verification procedures designed to prevent proxy authentication attempts.

User Activity and Trading Remain Stable

Current data shows that MapleStory Universe attracts approximately 70,000 daily active wallet users (DAUWs) and 500,000 monthly active wallet users (MAUWs). Daily new wallet registrations are around 6,000, compared with a peak of 70,000 in June, before the first wave of bans and the introduction of the Credit Level System.

The platform also reports steady trading activity, with daily volume for in-game characters and items at around 650 billion NESO, equivalent to roughly $4.5 million USD. This indicates continued engagement and a stable marketplace despite recent enforcement actions.

Ongoing Efforts to Maintain Game Integrity

MapleStory Universe’s recent account bans and planned security enhancements reflect an ongoing effort to maintain fair play and a secure environment for its players. The combination of user monitoring, the Credit Level System, and strengthened verification measures aims to protect the ecosystem from automated farming, hacks, and other forms of exploitation while supporting legitimate gaming activity in its web3-enabled economy.
