Line Next, a subsidiary of Line Corporation, is set to launch a new web3 mini-game platform designed to capitalize on Line's extensive user base of 2 billion active chat users. Scheduled for release in Q4 2024, the platform aims to bring blockchain-based gaming experiences directly to users through the Line messaging app, without requiring additional downloads or applications.
This web-based approach enables users to seamlessly access games and decentralized applications (dapps), connect wallets, play, and invite friends— all within the familiar Line environment. Line Next has also announced the launch of a Kaia Wave, a developer program supported by over $10 million in funding.
Line Next New Web3 Platform
The web3 mini-game platform by Line Next shares similarities with Telegram’s integrated web app approach. Users will be able to access the games directly from Line’s chat interface using their Line ID. In addition to playing games, the platform offers several other features:
Get Early Access to the Future
This platform comes on the heels of the recent launch of Kaia, an L1 blockchain that resulted from a merger between Finschia and Klaytn. In collaboration with Kaia, Line Next has introduced the Kaia Wave initiative. This developer program, supported by a $10 million fund, aims to attract web3 builders to contribute to the platform’s ecosystem.
Developers can apply for grants through the initiative, with up to $1.2 million available per developer. The Kaia Wave SDK provides comprehensive tools, including wallet APIs, mini dapp support, and portal integration, making it easier for developers to build applications and games for the Line Next platform.
Asia's Top Web3 Builder Program
With this initiative, Line Next is positioning itself to drive web3 adoption among a massive user base, leveraging Line’s established reach in messaging services. The platform’s integration of digital wallets, combined with its easy access through the Line app, could provide a frictionless way for everyday users to engage with blockchain technologies.
As web3 continues to evolve, Line Next's mini-game platform and developer support through Kaia Wave could play a key role in bringing decentralized applications to mainstream audiences, especially in Asia where Line has a significant presence.
Kaia Partners
The upcoming launch of Line Next’s web3 mini-game platform marks a notable step in integrating blockchain technologies with popular messaging services. With a user-friendly approach, combined with developer incentives through Kaia Wave, the platform is set to create new opportunities for both casual users and web3 developers.
The official launch is expected in Q4 2024, with more details anticipated as the date approaches. For developers interested in contributing, Kaia Wave is now open for pre-registration, providing early access to the tools and resources needed to build on the platform.
