Japanese mobile gaming company Gumi has joined US-based L1 blockchain Injective as a validator, making it the first Japanese company to be part of Injective's active validator set, which is currently limited to 60 validators by governance.
Gumi Becomes First Japanese Validator for Injective Blockchain
Gumi is known for its popular mobile games such as Brave Frontier and Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. The company is a major mobile game publisher with a portfolio that includes both its own games and third-party IP titles. In 2018, Gumi launched Gumi Cryptos, a $30 million fund for early-stage blockchain projects across various sectors.
More recently, Gumi founded gC Games Singapore, a new web3 gaming venture, which is now becoming an Injective validator. Gumi is also a validator for the Japanese gaming blockchain Oasys.
Oasys: Blockchain for the Games
In a statement on X, Gumi mentioned its plans to continue participating in node operations for various blockchains, aiming to contribute to the construction of decentralized networks and the development of the blockchain industry.
Injective, designed mainly for financial applications, also aims to enhance security in blockchain gaming. It is one of the largest proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchains globally. As a validator, Gumi will help establish Injective’s presence in Japan, where over five million users own cryptocurrency. In the gaming sector, Gumi plans to use its expertise as a publisher and developer to onboard its users into the Injective network.
Gumi and Injective Blockchain Partner
Injective was incubated by Binance and is supported by investors including Jump Crypto, Pantera, and Mark Cuban. Gumi’s role as a validator highlights its ongoing commitment to supporting decentralized networks and the blockchain field.
With Gumi’s participation, Injective gains a valuable partner in expanding its reach in the Japanese market, while Gumi reinforces its position as a key player in the blockchain and gaming industries. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in integrating blockchain technology with mainstream gaming.
