ID@Xbox Showcase October 2025

The October 2025 ID@Xbox Showcase once again brought the spotlight to independent developers creating for the Xbox ecosystem. Hosted in partnership with IGN, the latest showcase delivered world premieres, release date announcements, and extended gameplay looks for a wide range of upcoming games. From small teams debuting their first projects to returning favorites unveiling major updates, the presentation highlighted the creative scope of today’s indie scene.

Expanding Worlds and Long-Awaited Sequels

The showcase opened with 33 Immortals, which unveiled its biggest update yet, The Pride and Temperance Update. This patch introduces two new weapons - the Crossbows of Pride and the Glaive of Temperance - alongside systems such as Ordeals, Armor Break, and Chamber Objectives designed to deepen the game’s roguelike combat.

Another notable highlight was Darkwood 2, a sequel to the acclaimed survival horror game. Set years after the original, the new entry moves players to a desolate desert world where survival depends on scavenging resources by day and sheltering from unknown horrors by night. It’s a standalone story, making it accessible to both returning fans and newcomers.

DayZ also made waves with its Badlands expansion, which introduces the game’s largest official map to date. Set in the conflict-scarred province of Nasdara, Badlands adds desert survival mechanics, regional weapons, and new infected types. The update will be available for both Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, ensuring the next stage of DayZ’s evolution remains open to all players.

New Adventures and Fresh IPs

Several new titles made their debut during the showcase. Agni: Village of Calamity, from Indonesian studio Separuh Interactive, blends psychological horror with folklore, following a police investigator who defies orders to explore a cursed village. Meanwhile, Aphelion offered a first look at its cinematic sci-fi action adventure set on the edge of the solar system. Players will take on the roles of astronauts Ariane and Thomas as they uncover the mystery behind their crash landing.

Over the Hill, developed by the team behind Art of Rally, celebrates the golden era of off-roading. Players will drive classic vehicles from the 1960s to 1980s across challenging terrain either solo or in multiplayer. Similarly, Awaysis is introducing a physics-driven brawler where every strike and fall has weight, blending chaos with skill-based combat.

Another surprise reveal came from Azra Games with UnGodly, a dark fantasy RPG built around an innovative Affinity System. The game aims to combine cinematic storytelling with deep combat mechanics when it releases across platforms.

Returning Favorites and Fan-Focused Updates

The event also brought fresh looks at familiar names. Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf showcased new gameplay, puzzles, and biomes while continuing the story of Lana and her companion Mui. The sequel promises a longer campaign and expanded exploration when it launches in early 2026 as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.

Vampire Survivors continued its expansion with the reveal of the Ante Chamber DLC, which introduces a set of card-themed characters and new scoring mechanics. Additional free content updates, including Mazerella and Westwoods, were also announced, along with enhancements to the Ode to Castlevania DLC.

Dome Keeper, the roguelike mining defense game from Raw Fury, will arrive on December 9. It combines mining, exploration, and real-time defense mechanics in procedurally generated maps. The title will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Game Pass at launch.

Genre Variety and Unique Indie Concepts

Among the more experimental titles, Don’t Fret drew attention for its blend of psychological horror and musical gameplay. Players will take control of Fret, a sentient guitar, navigating a sound-based nightmare world voiced by a global cast of YouTube creators.

Sledding Game brings a social twist to snow sports with proximity chat, ragdoll physics, and open-ended activities. From sledding and snowball fights to darts and fishing, it emphasizes multiplayer fun and casual exploration.

Meanwhile, Task Time, from developers who previously worked on Gang Beasts and Fall Guys, mixes competitive minigames and physical comedy as up to eight players compete in task-based challenges.

Another standout reveal was Mouse: P.I. For Hire, an action shooter inspired by 1930s animation. Its hand-drawn style, noir atmosphere, and cartoon weapons set it apart, with a release date set for March 19, 2026.

Finally, TCG Card Shop Simulator invited players to manage their own card store - stocking shelves, hosting events, and even opening booster packs for rare finds. The simulator will arrive in early 2026 for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Game Pass.

Highlights for Xbox Game Pass Players

Many of the showcase titles are heading to Xbox Game Pass, ensuring subscribers can experience them from day one. Games such as Egging On, Routine, Monsters Are Coming! Rock & Road, and Planet of Lana II will all launch directly into the service. Superball - a futuristic 3v3 street-sports game available now - also supports Game Pass benefits, offering fast-paced multiplayer action focused on teamwork and skill expression.
