The GUNZ blockchain, built on the Avalanche subnet, is the foundation behind Off The Grid (OTG), creating a seamless player-driven economy powered by $GUN tokens and NFTs. But while the blockchain's marketplace and token get most of the attention, the real engine behind it all lies in the validator nodes. These nodes play a critical role in keeping everything running smoothly, from handling in-game transactions to processing key blockchain tasks like decoding HEXes.

How GUNZ Nodes Work

Validator nodes are the backbone of the GUNZ blockchain, responsible for validating transactions, securing the network, and maintaining its decentralized nature. These nodes operate using Avalanche’s Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) system, which means players can either run their own validator nodes or delegate their $GUN tokens to trusted validators. This system allows for fast, efficient, and scalable transaction processing, making it ideal for a game like OTG, which requires quick, real-time settlements

Earning $GUN Tokens and Node Operator Rewards

Players can earn $GUN tokens through various in-game activities, such as kill assists, completing daily and weekly missions, and extracting HEXes, a core part of OTG’s economy. If you own the Battle Pass, you get even more ways to earn, such as unlocking 500 additional $GUN tokens and boosting your earnings by 5x. You’ll also get a special bonus when you finish first in a match

But nodes take things a step further. Whenever players extract and decode a HEX, a node is randomly assigned to perform the decoding. The node owner earns a commission for this task, providing an ongoing source of passive income. Even better, when the decoded asset, like a weapon, skin, or attachment, is traded on the marketplace, the node operator continues to receive a commission from future sales. This system turns nodes into an essential part of the economy, continuously generating rewards for their owners

Why Nodes Matter

Nodes are central to how the entire economy of OTG operates. By taking care of the technical side, such as verifying transactions, processing trades, and decoding HEXes, they ensure that the player-driven economy functions smoothly. And because all these tasks are handled by the blockchain, everything is automated and instant, no middlemen, no waiting periods This also benefits node operators, as their earnings are processed instantly with no delay. If you’re a node owner, you’re earning rewards for every transaction and trade linked to the items your node decoded, and all of this is managed by the blockchain without any manual intervention.

How to Get Started as a Node Operator

Running a validator node on the GUNZ blockchain can be highly rewarding but comes with technical challenges, such as maintaining a stable server and ensuring network security. While the public staking option isn't yet available, Delphi Ventures has already become the largest validator, securing the network for Off The Grid (OTG). Once staking opens, players can either set up their own nodes or delegate their $GUN tokens to existing validators, earning rewards from transactions and marketplace commission
