Gunzilla’s GUN token is now the first gaming-focused crypto asset to achieve MiCAR compliance in the EU, enabling legal trading and utility use across Europe.
Gunzilla Games has confirmed that its GUN token is now compliant with the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR). This development marks the first time a gaming-focused token has been approved under the EU’s comprehensive regulatory framework for digital assets. With MiCAR compliance secured, GUN is cleared for trading on licensed platforms across Europe and has been legally recognized as a utility token rather than a security.
GUN Token Gains MiCAR Approval
The company worked with international law firm Dentons to complete the legal process. Dentons supported Gunzilla’s parent company, Poseidon 133 PTE. LTD, in drafting required documentation, coordinating filings, and engaging with regulators. The approval means GUN can be offered and traded throughout the EU under a single authorization, rather than requiring separate approvals in each member state.
MiCAR represents the European Union’s first unified approach to regulating the digital asset sector. It replaces earlier national-level rules, including the VASP framework, with a consistent set of standards that apply across all member countries. Under MiCAR, service providers are now classified as Crypto-Asset Service Providers (CASPs) and must obtain authorization before operating.
The regulation covers multiple aspects of the crypto industry, from token issuance and custody to trading practices and consumer protections. For companies such as Gunzilla, achieving compliance brings greater legal clarity and reduces uncertainty. By recognizing GUN as a utility token, MiCAR ensures that it can be used within gameplay and the broader ecosystem without being subject to the restrictions that apply to securities.

For Gunzilla, MiCAR compliance carries several direct implications. Players across Europe will now be able to trade the token legally on platforms operating under the regulation. Institutions and corporate partners are also expected to engage with greater confidence, given the removal of regulatory uncertainty. The classification of GUN as a utility token confirms its intended use within gameplay and in-game economies, rather than as a speculative financial asset.
Being the first gaming token to receive approval under MiCAR also positions Gunzilla with a competitive advantage. The company noted that future projects built on the GUNZ chain will benefit from the regulatory framework already established for GUN, making expansion into additional products and services more straightforward.
Vlad Korolov, CEO of Gunzilla Games, described the development as a significant step for the company’s long-term strategy. He explained that achieving MiCAR compliance provides not only regulatory certainty but also demonstrates how gaming and web3 technologies can operate within a structured legal environment. According to Korolov, this approval establishes the GUN token as a utility asset at the center of the GUNZ ecosystem and opens the door for broader adoption across Europe.

Alongside the compliance news, Gunzilla confirmed that a full rollout of the GUNZ mainnet will begin in September. As part of this transition, accounts and assets from the testnet will migrate to the fully compliant mainnet. This will allow players in Europe to use the GUN token on-chain within Off The Grid, the company’s flagship cyberpunk battle royale game.
The MiCAR milestone follows a period of growth for Gunzilla’s ecosystem. Off The Grid launched on Steam in July, introducing its player-versus-player features and trading functions to a global audience. The GUN token also went live on the Solana blockchain, giving players access to decentralized finance tools such as Phantom and Solflare wallets, as well as integrations with platforms including Kamino, Orca, and Jupiter.
During the same period, Gunzilla launched a liquidity campaign on Kamino valued at around $400,000 in token rewards and opened a storefront on OpenSea. Within the first day of trading, a rare Tacoma Gun sold for 55,000 GUN. July also saw over 27.8 million GUN in trading volume and more than 250,000 marketplace listings, with item decoding activity rising by more than 120 percent.
The company’s mobile companion app for Off The Grid has also shown strong adoption, surpassing 500,000 unique users. The app is designed to support communication, squad coordination, and access to the ecosystem, making it a central tool for the game’s player base.

Gunzilla has further expanded Off The Grid’s reach through participation in Avalanche Battle Pass Season 2. The event, which distributes more than $25,000 in rewards, allows players to complete in-game tasks and social missions in exchange for tokens, NFTs, and physical prizes. Off The Grid joins other Avalanche-based titles such as Spellborne and DeFi Kingdoms in the event, which runs for 30 days. Players can also use a new salvage system to exchange rewards for Playpoints, creating additional engagement opportunities.
