Sony and Sucker Punch reveal Ghost of Yōtei PS5 Limited Edition Bundles with kintsugi and sumi-e inspired designs. Launches October 2 with exclusive content.
During the latest State of Play, Sony gave fans their first look at the Ghost of Yōtei PS5 Limited Edition Bundles - a pair of specially designed consoles and accessories that tie directly into Sucker Punch’s upcoming open-world action game. The bundles feature two unique console and controller designs inspired by traditional Japanese art, reflecting the themes and setting of Ghost of Yōtei.
This marks the latest collaboration between Sucker Punch and Sony Interactive Entertainment’s hardware design team, and it's clear both teams aimed to go beyond simple branding. These aren’t just themed colorways - they’re physical extensions of the world and story players will explore when the game launches on October 2.
Ghost of Yōtei Limited Edition Console
The Ghost of Yōtei Gold Limited Edition PS5 bundle is inspired by kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. The console features elegant gold streaks across a soft, muted base, symbolizing the central character Atsu’s personal journey through loss, resilience, and growth. The design mirrors themes from the game’s story and aesthetic, right down to the brushstroke-style lines and hand-drawn symbols found throughout the in-game world.
The Gold Edition bundle includes a PS5 disc console, a matching DualSense controller, and a digital copy of Ghost of Yōtei Standard Edition, along with pre-order content like an exclusive in-game mask and seven PSN avatars featuring concept art of Atsu and the Yōtei Six. The Gold Edition console and controller also feature an engraved maker’s seal with the iconic PlayStation symbols. Sony confirmed that the Gold Edition bundle and accessories will be available globally through select retailers, with additional availability depending on region.
The Black Limited Edition console is an exclusive and draws from sumi-e, a Japanese ink wash painting style. The design features bold black brush strokes across the console shell, capturing the moody, atmospheric tone of Ghost of Yōtei and representing the rugged landscapes of Ezo - Sucker Punch’s fictional take on modern-day Hokkaido.
Like the Gold Edition, the Black version includes a disc-based PS5 console, a DualSense controller, and a digital copy of the game. The controller features a silhouette of Atsu on the touchpad and the same engraved seal on the back. The Black controller will also be sold separately, but only through PlayStation and at select retailers in Japan.
Ghost of Yōtei Limited Edition Console
If you already own a PS5 (model group – slim) or the PS5 Pro, you won’t be left out. Sony is also releasing Ghost of Yōtei Gold Limited Edition console covers for both models. These feature the same kintsugi-inspired design and engraved seal found on the bundle. Console covers will be available via PlayStation in supported regions and through select online retailers elsewhere. Both DualSense controllers (Gold and Black editions) will be sold separately, giving players a way to customize their setup even if they’re not picking up a full console bundle.

According to Jason Connell, Creative Director at Sucker Punch, the hardware design was closely tied to the game’s vision. Elements like the ghost mask’s golden cracks, Atsu’s hand-drawn map icons, and her sumi-e brushstrokes were all key inspirations. Mt. Yōtei, a central location in the game and a real-world symbol of Hokkaido, serves as the visual centerpiece on both consoles.
Sucker Punch says the designs are meant to reflect the themes of exploration, identity, and cultural heritage woven throughout the game. From the layout of the landscape to the texture of the controller art, the bundles are meant to be more than collectible - they’re physical representations of the story players will step into.
Ghost of Yōtei Limited Edition Console
The Ghost of Yōtei PS5 Limited Edition Bundles and accessories will launch on October 2, 2025, in limited quantities. Pre-order information is coming soon, and availability will vary depending on region and retailer.
This isn’t the first time Sony has launched artistically driven hardware tied to a major first-party release, but the Ghost of Yōtei editions continue the trend of using console design to deepen the player experience. Whether you’re drawn to the cracked gold elegance of the Gold Edition or the bold ink work of the Black Edition, both versions offer a meaningful connection to one of Sony’s most anticipated upcoming exclusives.
