Our GAM3 Awards, a prominent fixture in the realm of web3 gaming, are making a triumphant return this December 2023. The event's distinguished panel of judges has been unveiled, featuring a mix of familiar figures from 2022 and new representatives spanning various aspects of web3 gaming. Notable newcomers to the panel include experts from web3 gaming venture capital firms, blockchain and ecosystem specialists, infrastructure partners, and content creators, in addition to renowned gaming leaders and tech giants such as Amazon and Google.

We are proud to introduce one of our jury members, our very own Omar Ghanem, Co-Founder & CEO of GAM3S.GG.

1. What is the most enjoyable part of your role?

"Working in the gaming industry alone is a blessing as I’ve practically been playing video games for as long as I can remember. Being able to help & support game developers by spotlighting their titles & driving users towards them is easily the most satisfying part about my role today."

2. How do you see the progress made in web3 gaming since last year?

"We still have a long way to go but boy have we progressed. I still recall 2-3 years ago when the quality in this space was laughable and you could count “exciting” games on one hand.

Today we have plenty of exciting teams and studios building games that could essentially stand their own ground even within traditional gaming. The influx of game developers & experienced founders has lead to more exciting developments than ever before and I can’t truly begin to describe how excited I am about the next few years as this space continues to grow and evolve."

3. What is the most valuable addition web3 brings into gaming, from your perspective, if any?

"I come from an esports background so the easy answer would be instant payouts instead of 6-9 month long wait times for gaming tournament prize pool distribution.

But being a FIFA / COD player for most of the last 2 decades also means that I’m excited for gamers to finally be empowered to actually take back some of the value and the sense of ownership over their time invested in these games. 

I struggled to comprehend for years why EA wouldn’t just let me sell my Ultimate Team players in one installment and transfer the funds / progress into the next one. Today, using the tech we now have and know the capabilities of - games can do their players justice, and despite popular belief, actually create less predatory pricing schemes & game development cycles."

4. What is your outlook on 2024 and beyond for web3 gaming?

"I think we’re at the cusp of a real wave of excitement with many of the soon to be released game titles and several others currently in Alpha / Beta stages scheduled to release in 2024. 

I think as more quality games break through, especially with giants like Ubisoft pulling some strings on a few of those titles - we could actually start to see more genuine attraction towards web3 gaming.

I think the teams that managed to survive the bear market and the newcomers that learn from the mistakes of their predecessors will push this space forward."
