Our highly anticipated GAM3 Awards, a pivotal event in the world of web3 gaming, is poised to make a grand comeback this December 2023. We are thrilled to introduce our diverse jury lineup, which combines familiar faces from 2022 with fresh voices representing various aspects of web3 gaming. The new additions are particularly noteworthy, featuring key figures from web3 gaming venture capital firms, blockchain and ecosystem experts, infrastructure partners, content creators, as well as well-established leaders in the gaming industry and technology giants such as Amazon and Google.

1. What is the most enjoyable part of your role?

“Guiding the product's vision and assembling a team to bring it to life. It's a great opportunity to engage in discussions with some of the world's top studios and esports teams.”

2. How do you see the progress made in web3 gaming since last year?

“For independent game development studios, the past year has posed significant challenges for both newly formed teams and those that initially thrived during the bullish market, as most teams struggled to secure subsequent funding rounds. This adversity led to the emergence of more resilient teams with higher quality standards. Only the top 10% of teams stayed. 

On the other hand, for larger gaming studios, this year represented a setback due to the events with FTX/Luna/3AC, which negatively impacted the industry's reputation. However, this setback ultimately serves as a catalyst for the establishment of a more robust regulatory framework, signifying a positive step forward in the long run.”

3. What is the most valuable addition web3 brings into gaming, from your perspective, if any?

“From my perspective, the most valuable addition that web3 brings into gaming is the concept of asset ownership and the introduction of new gameplay loops that revolve around entire in-game economies. Additionally, web3 technology enhances transparency within the gaming ecosystem, creating a more trustworthy and equitable environment for players.”

4. What is your outlook on 2024 and beyond for web3 gaming?

“My outlook for web3 gaming in 2024 and beyond anticipates increased regulation and a growing dominance from the Asian market. While web3 gaming is still in its early stages, I expect the transition from web2 to web3 games to be primarily driven by financial incentives.

I am particularly optimistic about the prospects of casual and hyper-casual mobile games in the web3 space. However, I believe that web3 AAA-quality games may not yet match the standards set by web2 counterparts.”
