GAM3 Awards 2023 Meet the Jury: Jeremy Parris

Our much-anticipated GAM3 Awards, a significant event in the web3 gaming landscape, is scheduled to make its triumphant return this December 2023. We're excited to unveil our diverse and esteemed panel of judges, comprising both familiar faces from 2022 and new voices representing different facets of web3 gaming. Notably, the latest additions to our jury are drawn from web3 gaming venture capital firms, blockchain and ecosystem experts, infrastructure partners, content creators, along with established gaming leaders and tech industry giants like Amazon and Google.

We are proud to introduce one of our jury members Jeremy Parris, a ventures associate at Delphi Ventures who specializes in game design, web3 token and ecosystem design, game economies, social tokens and DIDs.

1. What is the most enjoyable part of your role?

“The role afforded by Delphi Ventures in gaming is the ability to stay at the cutting edge of the web3 technology currently being developed and iterated through, as well as getting to keep up to date on the latest thought leadership and industry trends. There's few other positions that afford not only a comprehensive view of the landscape, but also allow you to make an impact on it.”

2. How do you see the progress made in web3 gaming since last year?

“It seems that account abstraction and onboarding has taken a huge leap in the last year, this has been major in onboarding games, game studios, and traditional web2 players.”

3. What is the most valuable addition web3 brings into gaming, from your perspective, if any?

“The way I think about this is game designers and studios have a "toolbox" of mechanics, loops, tech, and economy design that has continued to grow since the days of the Arcade. Web3 is just another layer of technology that grows that toolbox and subsequent design whitespace.”

4. What is your outlook on 2024 and beyond for web3 gaming?

“I believe this year we'll continue to see more games go into alpha/beta, and full titles begin launching in more meaningful ways. As well as more tooling being developed and traditional game studios and designers adopting web3 tech in some ways. Overall, I don't think web3 goes mainstream in '24 but building and momentum continue forward!”
