Our much-anticipated GAM3 Awards, a significant event in the web3 gaming landscape, is scheduled to make its triumphant return this December 2023. We're excited to unveil our diverse and esteemed panel of judges, comprising both familiar faces from 2022 and new voices representing different facets of web3 gaming. Notably, the latest additions to our jury are drawn from web3 gaming venture capital firms, blockchain and ecosystem experts, infrastructure partners, content creators, along with established gaming leaders and tech industry giants like Amazon and Google.

We are proud to introduce one of our jury members Dan Patterson, a General Partner at Sfermion and a Managing Partner at Polynexus Capital, a Chicago-based digital asset fund. The firm invests in early-stage, liquid products that are laying the groundwork for the future decentralized economy. 

Prior to joining the crypto asset space full-time, he spent four years working at a private equity firm in Hong Kong, responsible for sourcing, analyzing, and executing transaction opportunities for the firm. Dan’s primary experience focuses on small-cap, growth-stage investments in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

Dan’s crypto asset journey began in 2013, while studying engineering and finance at Duke University. Ethereum’s growing reputation, as a platform for decentralized applications, convinced him that a new type of capital market was forming. Since that time, he has dedicated himself to understanding and investing in this novel asset class.

1. What is the most enjoyable part of your role?

“Hearing crazy ideas from founders that feel obvious in hindsight.”

2. How do you see the progress made in web3 gaming since last year?

“Game dev always takes longer than you think. Web3 abstraction and simple onboarding are key. New crypto-forward UA platforms are still proving the model.”

3. What is the most valuable addition web3 brings into gaming, from your perspective, if any?

“The incentive for players to participate in any piece of the game production lifecycle - from testing to creative to distribution.”

4. What is your outlook on 2024 and beyond for web3 gaming?

“More live games!”
