In a pivotal move to foster innovation in the AI and metaverse domains, Futureverse and Outlier Ventures have unveiled the Futureverse Base Camp Accelerator Program. This announcement comes just a week after Futureverse secured $54 million to create an open metaverse ecosystem, led by 10T Holdings.
The Futureverse Base Camp Accelerator Program is designed to support early-stage startups building on The Root Network, a public decentralized blockchain network tailored for metaverse apps and experiences. Selected teams will benefit from a 12-week virtual program packed with mentorship, education, and $100,000 in funding. Applications are open and will close in early December 2023, with the program kickstarting in mid-January 2024.
The Futureverse Base Camp accelerator program is the brainchild of Futureverse and Outlier Ventures. Born Ready, a $50 million venture fund unveiled last week by the cofounders of Futureverse, will provide the funding. While some organizations shy away from the term "metaverse" due to declining hype, Futureverse and its cofounders, Shara Senderoff and Aaron McDonald, are embracing it. McDonald stated, “We’re not running away from the metaverse.” They believe that the metaverse will play an essential role in proving new concepts vital for the entire ecosystem.
Unlike A16z's Speedrun accelerator focusing on game startups, Futureverse Base Camp intends to invest in metaverse startups beyond just gaming. The cofounders believe that the internet will become increasingly gamified and that the metaverse will not be restricted to games alone. The program aims to accelerate the development of scalable and interoperable applications, games, and experiences within the metaverse using The Root Network. Futureverse's suite of proprietary AI content generation tools, alongside The Root Network, will play a vital role in building next-gen metaverse applications.
Selected startups will enjoy tailored support covering various web3 technologies, product roadmap development, community building, strategic partnerships, and more. Mentors and experts from Outlier Ventures and Futureverse will guide the selected teams. With a portfolio of 250 startups from around the globe, Outlier Ventures has been one of the most active Web3 startup accelerators since 2019. Futureverse, on the other hand, has amassed $104 million in capital and established strategic partnerships with organizations like Wimbledon, FIFA, Mastercard, and prominent figures like Snoop Dogg and Keanu Reeves.
The Futureverse Base Camp Accelerator Program marks a significant step in nurturing the metaverse's growth and innovation. By offering robust support, mentorship, and funding, Futureverse and Outlier Ventures are not only investing in individual startups but in the future of a multi-trillion-dollar economy that the metaverse may eventually become.
Startups interested in contributing to the open metaverse's development and eager to take part in this unique opportunity can apply today. The program, set to commence in January 2024, signifies a bright beginning for early-stage companies in a rapidly evolving field.
