Crypto gaming studio Uncharted has officially launched its web3 RPG Fishing Frenzy on the Ronin network, marking the beginning of the game's first seasonal campaign titled Uncharted Waters. Following a successful alpha phase that reported over 9 million installs and around 450,000 active players, this new release introduces several gameplay features designed to expand earning opportunities and enhance player engagement.

Web3 RPG Fishing Frenzy

As part of its official launch, Fishing Frenzy has introduced a new progression and reward system called Frenzy Points, designed to reward active players within the game's growing web3 ecosystem. Frenzy Points serve as the foundation for the game's play-to-airdrop campaign, offering players a chance to earn future rewards based on their in-game activity and contributions.

New Additions in the Uncharted Waters Season

The Uncharted Waters campaign brings a series of updates to Fishing Frenzy. Among the most notable features are NFT rods, Shiny Fish, cooking, emblems, a battle pass system, a VIP progression system, and a new reward structure known as Frenzy Points. NFT rods can be obtained through minting, trading, or opening chests.

These rods can break over time, requiring repair with gold, but they provide an increased chance of catching Shiny Fish—rare and tradeable NFT variants of regular fish. Shiny Fish can be listed on Ronin’s marketplace, where prices vary based on rarity and demand. At the time of writing, the lowest price for a Shiny Fish is 0.052 $RON, while the cheapest NFT rods and Common Founder Chests are priced at 0.10 $RON and 1.15 $RON, respectively.

Cooking is a new gameplay mechanic that allows players to prepare the fish they catch into sashimi. Players can then sell sashimi to earn Pearls, which are used to spin a reward wheel offering items such as gold, bait, sushi, chests, and Frenzy Points. Recipes rotate daily, requiring players to adjust their fishing targets accordingly. Players who participated in the first testing phase and owned pets or chests have been rewarded with emblems, which are expected to be used for future in-game benefits.

The battle pass offers two tiers: a free version and a premium version costing 20 $RON. Completing milestones within the pass grants Frenzy Points and other items. The VIP system enables players to gain multipliers and exclusive rewards based on their in-game spending, with each $RON spent equating to five VIP Points. Frenzy Points are positioned as a valuable in-game currency tied to future reward distributions, potentially including a token airdrop.

Fishing Frenzy Battle Pass

Access, Rewards, XP and Gold

Players can access Fishing Frenzy directly through web browsers on any device. They can log in using a variety of methods including email, social accounts, or web3 wallets such as MetaMask and Ronin Wallet. The game itself revolves around fishing, where players cast lines, wait for fish to bite, and then engage in a mini-game to successfully reel them in. Casts consume energy, which regenerates through various in-game actions such as selling fish to purchase sushi. Each cast and catch contributes to the player’s progression and ability to earn rewards.

Gold is earned by selling fish, and it is used to purchase necessary items like sushi, which recovers energy. Players can also complete daily and special quests that offer additional resources. By participating in weekly fishing and cooking leaderboards, players can earn NFT chests. These chests can be traded or opened for a chance to receive valuable NFT rods that increase the probability of catching Shiny Fish.

Leaderboards rank players by XP gained through fishing or cooking activities, with different boards providing newer players opportunities to compete for rewards. Cooking XP is awarded based on the successful preparation of fish according to daily recipes, while fishing XP is accumulated through catching fish, particularly rare ones. Using various types of bait can improve the chances of finding these rarer fish.

Frenzy Points and VIP System Rewards

Frenzy Points serve as a key reward system introduced in this season. These points can be collected through multiple methods including the battle pass, the VIP system, spinning the reward wheel, and referring new players. Players receive five percent of the Frenzy Points earned by those they refer. Additionally, those who rank within the top 100 of the weekly leaderboards for fishing or cooking are awarded Frenzy Points.

Another way to access exclusive benefits is through owning a Founders Pass NFT. Only 888 of these passes exist, each granting access to unique cosmetics, upcoming ecosystem-wide rewards, and a future token airdrop. At the time of writing, the floor price for a Founders Pass is 430 $RON. A snapshot of holders was recently taken, and those who stored their passes in their in-game wallet and did not list them on a marketplace received rewards such as gold and VIP Points.

The Uncharted Waters campaign began on April 9 and is expected to run through the end of May.
