What is Farworld Labs?

The funds will primarily support Farworld Labs in preparing for its anticipated third-quarter releases, including the rollout of Farcade. This platform is designed to empower developers to create crypto-native games seamlessly integrated with on-chain social media protocols. This initiative seeks to bridge the gap left by traditional web2 platforms that limited third-party gaming development within their ecosystems.

According to Farworld Labs, the decision by legacy platforms like Meta (formerly Facebook) to restrict third-party app development stifled innovation in gaming integration with social media. The Farcade aims to revive and enhance this concept in a decentralized environment, drawing comparisons to platforms like Steam and Zynga in their early days.

Charlie Blackstock and Bobby Blackstock, co-founders of Farworld Labs, emphasized their commitment to decentralized social media, highlighting the unique opportunities enabled by Farcaster, the backbone technology supporting Farcade. "We saw a really unique opportunity in the sector that Farcaster enables — similar to the early days of Zynga when FarmVille was launched on Facebook."

Season 1 of Farworld

Farworld Labs has already made waves with its proof of concept, achieving significant milestones such as launching an MVP of its flagship game and generating over $500,000 in revenue within three months. The platform operates on Warpcast, an application within the Farcaster ecosystem that simplifies social gameplay and native marketing through on-chain interactions.

The upcoming Season 1 of Farworld promises to further expand its user base with an engaging monster training game experience, set to be accessible without the need for downloads from traditional app stores. Co-founder Charlie Blackstock commented:

"The current web3 gaming landscape is blighted by walled gardens, requiring users to connect their wallets, pay gas fees, and link their social media accounts before they even have a chance to engage."
