Fableborne, the mobile action RPG and strategy hybrid developed by Pixion Games, has announced a new preview playtest titled "Sorcery Unfolds." This limited-time event is scheduled to take place from March 26 to March 30 and introduces several updates, including 60 new campaign levels, new characters, and a new gameplay feature called Ability Tomes. The playtest is primarily available to holders of Primordial and Kingdom NFTs, although a small number of non-NFT players may also be selected through a public sign-up process.
Exclusive Details on Fableborne "Sorcery Unfolds" Preview Playtest
Fableborne, built by Pixion Games, features a unique combination of hack-and-slash RPG mechanics with base-building and raid elements. The game allows players to engage in both player-versus-player (PvP) and player-versus-environment (PvE) battles, creating an immersive experience that blends competitive and strategic elements. Originally launched on Avalanche (but now on Ronin), the game underwent a cosmetic rebranding in May 2024, introducing visual updates that further refined its identity as an esports-influenced, mobile-first RPG.
Founder and CEO, Kam Punia, emphasized the importance of partnering with Ronin, citing the platform’s commitment to mobile-first design and its engaged community as primary factors. He expressed confidence that Ronin’s resources and community-centered approach will support Fableborne’s expansion into the web3 space. “After years of building in web3, we see Ronin as the perfect partner to realize this vision,” Punia said.

The "Sorcery Unfolds" playtest brings significant updates to the Ronin-powered game. One of the major additions is the introduction of 60 new campaign levels, expanding the gameplay experience with fresh challenges. Players will also have access to new characters, although details on most of them remain undisclosed.
One of the key features introduced in this update is the Ability Tomes. While specific mechanics are yet to be fully detailed, gameplay footage shared in the initial announcement provides some insights. Ability Tomes appear to function as modifiers that allow players to equip a new skill on their characters. An example shown in the preview reveals Glint’s Tome, which enables players to replace one of their hero’s existing abilities with Solar Flare. This new system may allow for greater customization, potentially altering combat strategies and gameplay dynamics.
Another confirmed addition is a new character known as the Sorceress. This Elite Unit specializes in dark magic and has three abilities: Homing Projectiles, Leeching/Dark Bolt, and Summon Skeletons. Homing Projectiles allow for auto-targeting attacks, while Leeching/Dark Bolt enables the Sorceress to steal enemy health upon impact. The Summon Skeletons ability allows her to summon four skeleton units for additional support in battle. While other new characters have not yet been revealed, this update suggests a growing variety of playable units with unique skills.

The playtest begins on March 26 at 12 PM UTC and ends on March 30 at 12 PM UTC. To gain access, players must either hold a Primordial or Kingdom NFT, which guarantees entry into the event. Those without NFTs still have a chance to participate by signing up for a raffle via Alphabot. This public sign-up requires users to answer two application questions regarding their Play Store or TestFlight App email, depending on whether they play on Android or iOS. Over 600 players have already signed up, and the sign-up window is set to close soon.
NFT holders do not need to register through Alphabot and can gain access by verifying their Discord role in the official Fableborne server. This grants them entry to a private channel containing a sign-up link. Players interested in purchasing an NFT can acquire a Primordial NFT on OpenSea for a current floor price of 0.46 ETH. The Kingdom NFTs, which were originally minted earlier this year, are now available on the Ronin Market for 55 $RON at the time of writing.
Primordial NFTs
While "Sorcery Unfolds" introduces new content, it is important to note that this event is not the launch of Season 4 but rather a testing phase designed to gather player feedback. The number of available spots for non-NFT players is limited, emphasizing the exclusivity of this playtest. The feedback collected during this period will likely influence future updates as Pixion Games continues to refine and expand the Fableborne experience.
For those eager to explore the new campaign levels, characters, and Ability Tomes, this playtest provides an early opportunity to engage with upcoming features. With limited time to sign up, interested players should act quickly to secure a chance to participate.
