CCP Games' on-chain MMOG EVE Frontier ends closed alpha on 11th June and introduces Founder Access with a new gameplay cycle, Promised Lands, featuring missions, leaderboards, and player progression.
CCP Games has confirmed that EVE Frontier, its fully on-chain massively multiplayer online game (MMOG), will transition out of its closed alpha phase on 11th June. The shift marks the end of the game’s early development stage, which has so far been conducted under a non-disclosure agreement. This agreement has prevented players from publicly sharing their gameplay experiences or in-game content until now.
EVE Frontier is a survival MMO set in the broader EVE Online universe. The game places players in the role of a lone survivor who has emerged from stasis into a ruined galaxy. Civilization has collapsed, and the remnants are overrun by rogue artificial intelligence, corrupted drones, and the gravitational pull of supermassive black holes. The player must navigate hostile environments, collect limited resources, and construct a functioning spacecraft using salvaged technology.
Success in EVE Frontier depends on strategic planning, resource management, and decision-making under pressure. As a web3 MMO, EVE Frontier introduces blockchain technology into its gameplay framework. The game operates on a single shared server, meaning all players inhabit the same persistent universe. This model ensures that major events and decisions affect all players equally, fostering a connected and interactive game world.
One of the core systems in EVE Frontier is Smart Assemblies, which allows players to program in-game elements such as missions, trade hubs, and infrastructure. These systems are tied into a broader player-driven economy that uses Ethereum and Redstone, a layer-2 blockchain network designed specifically for gaming environments.
With the conclusion of the closed alpha, EVE Frontier will enter a new phase titled Founder Access: New Era. This release marks the first time the broader community will be able to access the game without restrictions. Founder Access is intended to serve as a bridge between alpha testing and full public launch, allowing early participants to engage with the game while supporting ongoing development.
Coinciding with the launch of Founder Access, the game will begin its first major content cycle, known as Promised Lands. The cycle introduces new missions and activities, offering players the opportunity to earn an in-game resource called Grace. This resource will contribute to player rankings on a cycle-based leaderboard, both for individual participants and for their respective in-game tribes.
The cycle system is designed to refresh the game’s objectives and available content over time, with future cycles planned to include additional gameplay elements. This approach aligns with the game’s long-term vision to provide a continuously evolving player experience within its web3-powered ecosystem.
EVE Frontier Launches Founder Access
To support the launch of the new cycle, CCP Games has released a trailer titled The Ancient Dark. The video highlights core themes of the game, focusing on the cycle of survival, death, and rebirth that players—referred to as Riders—experience within the game's expansive and often hostile galaxy. The trailer aims to provide a narrative backdrop for the gameplay while reflecting the tone and direction of future updates.
EVE Frontier was first publicly announced under its current name in September 2024. Since then, it has been developed as a fully on--chain title, leveraging web3 technologies to support its gameplay and economy.
