Developer Eternal Squares has released a new development roadmap for Eternal League, its science fiction roguelike action RPG. The update outlines several upcoming features as the game prepares for its web3 debut on the Epic Games Store. The roadmap follows the game’s Early Access launch on Steam earlier this year and sets the stage for the implementation of blockchain-based features and a digital economy.
Eternal League Coming to Epic Games Store
Eternal League is currently available in Early Access on Steam, where it launched on March 26, 2025. The current version of the game includes five playable heroes, four distinct levels, and ten companions, each with unique abilities. Players can purchase the game for $5.99 or the regional equivalent. The Early Access version features a real-time progression system and customizable gameplay through hero upgrades and a glyph system that allows for randomized skill assignments. According to the game's official Steam page, the development team expects the Early Access phase to last approximately six months, during which more heroes, levels, and game mechanics are expected to be added.
According to the roadmap, the web3 version of Eternal League will launch on the Epic Games Store in June 2025. This release will mark the game’s official entry into the blockchain space, powered by Immutable as part of a newly announced partnership. While specific details on the gameplay changes or new content associated with the web3 version have not yet been disclosed, the roadmap suggests a broader strategy that includes new asset integrations and economic features.
In July, following the web3 launch, the development team plans to release the Eternal League Squads NFT Collection. The roadmap does not currently provide information about the use or functionality of these assets within the game, but their release signals the beginning of a broader blockchain asset ecosystem. By August, the game will introduce Challenge Season 1.
During this period, players will be able to earn the in-game token known as Eternal Shards (EST). EST will be deployed on Immutable’s zkEVM network, though an exact launch date has not yet been confirmed. The token will serve multiple purposes, including functioning as a marketplace currency and being used for features such as crafting, gear upgrades, item repairs, and purchasing time-limited items like enhancement boosters and potions.
EST will also be used to pay entry fees for tournaments and Challenge events, which will reward successful players with leaderboard prizes. Additional earning methods will include ranked gameplay, PvE quests, co-op missions, and contributions to the game’s community, such as creating content or referring new players. Token staking will be required for participating in governance decisions and may also offer access to special rewards such as rare NFTs and exclusive items.
Eternal League Coming to Epic Games Store
Later in 2025, Eternal Squares intends to expand the Eternal League universe with a new web3 card game. A beta version of this project is expected to be released in the fourth quarter of the year. In December, Challenge Season 2 will launch for the main game, continuing the play-and-earn model introduced earlier in the year.
This second season is likely to build on the mechanics and token utility introduced in the first season, further integrating EST into the gameplay experience. It is not yet confirmed whether the web3 version of Eternal League on the Epic Games Store will adopt a free-to-play model or carry a purchase price. More information on pricing and gameplay specifics is expected in the lead-up to the June launch.
