Epic Games updates Epic Rewards to offer instant rewards for virtual currency and subscriptions. Here’s what’s changing and how it affects your purchases.
Epic Games has rolled out a major change to how Epic Rewards work, making it easier and faster for players to earn back a portion of what they spend. Starting now, if you buy eligible content like virtual currency or subscriptions through Epic’s platform, your Epic Rewards will be delivered instantly—no more two-week wait.
Epic Games Updates Epic Rewards
Previously, Epic Rewards would hit your account 14 days after making a purchase. That wait time matched Epic’s standard refund window, giving players a chance to reverse their decision if needed. But under the new system, some purchases are no longer tied to that delay.
Now, when you buy non-refundable items—like V-bucks or Fortnite Crew subscriptions—Epic Rewards are granted right away. You’ll see your rewards balance update as soon as your transaction goes through, making it easier to jump back into your favorite games with some extra spending power.
For other types of content, such as paid games or downloadable content (DLC), the 14-day delay is still in place. Epic Games says this is to preserve the refund option for purchases that are still eligible. The company also notes that it will clearly indicate which purchases are eligible for instant rewards and which ones follow the usual timeline, so players know what to expect before they buy.
Epic Games Updates Epic Rewards
This update is all about making rewards more usable, more quickly. By cutting down the waiting time on non-refundable purchases, Epic is giving players a bit more flexibility—and maybe a little more reason to stick with their platform for digital purchases.
Epic is also keeping its current promotions in place. Players still earn 20% back in Epic Rewards when they purchase Epic-owned titles like Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys using Epic’s payment system. That offer is valid across platforms including PC, iOS, Android, and the web. For third-party games and content bought through the Epic Games Store, the 20% back deal is set to continue through August 31.

Instant rewards for virtual currency and subscriptions help remove friction from the process and give players faster access to what they’ve earned.
