Epic Games Store Introduces 100% Revenue Share

On June 3, 2025, Epic Games announced changes to its revenue share model on the Epic Games Store, aimed at providing more favorable terms for developers. Effective retroactively from June 1, 2025, developers will now receive 100% of the first $1 million in net revenue per product each year. This updated policy is part of the store’s revised standard distribution terms and applies to all products where Epic processes the payment.

Epic Games Store Updates

The new revenue model allows developers to earn up to $1 million in net revenue per title each calendar year without sharing a percentage with Epic. Once a product reaches the $1 million threshold in net revenue, the standard 88 percent to developer and 12 percent to Epic Games revenue split will take effect. The policy is designed to reset annually, beginning in 2026, with each product eligible to restart its $1 million allowance on January 1 of each year.

Cross-Platform and Automatic Implementation

The updated revenue share terms apply across multiple platforms, including PC, Mac, iOS, iPadOS, and Android, as long as Epic’s payment processor is used. Developers do not need to submit a new application or make changes to their existing contracts in order to benefit from the new model. This automatic implementation is intended to streamline access to the updated terms and reduce administrative overhead for developers.

Additional Incentives Through Epic First Run

In addition to the updated standard terms, Epic Games Store continues to offer the Epic First Run program. This is an optional exclusivity program that provides developers with 100 percent revenue share for the first six months of a product’s release, regardless of total earnings. After this period ends, any remaining revenue up to the $1 million threshold will still qualify for the full 100 percent share under the updated annual model. This structure provides a combined pathway for developers to maximize earnings during both the initial launch window and the extended sales period.

Support for Developer Growth and Distribution

Epic’s latest changes are designed to offer developers more flexibility and improved financial returns. By enhancing revenue share terms and maintaining global publishing tools, the Epic Games Store continues to position itself as a platform supportive of game creators. The store aims to provide scalable opportunities for both established studios and independent developers seeking to distribute their products across platforms.

The new model reflects Epic Games’ broader approach to digital distribution, offering a more competitive environment in comparison to traditional marketplaces. As more developers explore direct-to-consumer strategies, including those in web3 gaming and other emerging sectors, the updated Epic Games Store terms may serve as a strategic advantage. For more information, developers are encouraged to consult the Epic Games Store FAQ or explore distribution options directly through the platform.
